We paid about $600 for ours, but that did not include our albumn (which I wanted to do myself as I like scrapbooking) or negatives.

What it did include was: approx. 300 photo's in a mixture of b/w and colour, all done with the borders etc. and she was there from 9 in the morning until late in the day.

She was absolutly wonderful on the day - very kind and her photo's were fantastic!! We picked up the prints last night and were blown away with the shots!! Now the only hard thing will be choosing which ones to have enlarged and put in the albumn!!!

blink.gif oh my gawd!

We are paying $4500 for ours. Includes coverage from me getting ready, all the way through to the very end of the reception - 24 slides (72 enlargements) in a brushed crome/alaminium album, no extra costs for sepia, b&w or panorama's and she will also do hand painted colour touches for the sepia & b&w's. this also included a free sitting for engagement portraits at a venue of our choice, and i think it also includes the video guy . . ..

I'm getting married in NSW, and these aren't even Sydney prices. All you girls are getting a bargain!! Have I paid wayyyy toooo much?!! blink.gif

Ooh! I'd hurry and check whether the videographer is included, otherwise if you want one it can put a BIG hole in the budget!

We are paying $2000. For that we get heaps of shots from the guys getting ready, the girls getting ready, church, location shoots, reception as long as we want her to stay.
We get a brushed aluminium album, a parents album, magazine style enlargements, heaps of 5x7 enlargements. All negatives, and all photos on CD.
We are getting a videographer as well. He charges $880. He does a video and a DVD. He will cover the whole wedding from start to finish. He also does a montage at the beginning of the video with still photos of the couple from birth to the marriage, and a brief rundown of the wedding.
We are happy with our choices. The both work from small Victorian country towns. Their work comes highly recommended.

We paid around 2500-2700 and got coverage at:

* brides home
* grooms home
* church
* after-wedding shots at our locations

The photographer took around 300 shots, and then we selected 24 pages worth, in a leather bound album. We also got 2 poster prints framed for our parents, and one huge poster print framed for us
Our album also has special cut-out pages, such as pictures that open up to reveal other pictures etc...

Definately worth the money - this guy was a legend.

PM me if you want his details... (We are in Melbourne)

I wouldn't be concerned about that price - good work costs good money. Be wary of comparing packages based on volume (eg; how many shots, how many pages, coverage time etc) - volume is only relevant if photography is a commodity to you.

The one thing you can't compare in this forum is the quality of the work and the rapport you have with the photographer - two of the most important things that shouldn't be overlooked.

If anyone can recommend good Brisbane photographers at decent prices, please PM me. I'm reading posts like this with great interest...and a faint heart! Seriously, I know you pay for quality but the budget is getting tight. If they have a website, that'd be great too. Southside of Brisbane, by the way...for March 19. Hmm, can't wait!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Wow - Photography is so DIVERSE!!!

We're paying $1200 cash, for all our photos in 2 albums, 1xb/w and 1xcolour. This does not include negatives or enlargements, but her reprints are the CHEAPESET in Adelaide, so when we do reorder and request enlargment, we probably won't be paying more than $1400. A great photographer also.

I just want to thank Christian for putting some light on to why photographers prices are so diverse.

Yes you pay more for popular photographers and quality of service and images can also equal higher prices. Considering THE photographer of YOUR choice can only photograph one wedding at a time they have to consider the demand on their time.

I do work for a photographer and pricing takes into it: the number of hours spent behind the scenes, penalty rates considering they are working on a weekend (in most situations), and YES the equipment costs a lot and insurance is rediculous, just as a beginning.

I have started assisting on weddings and have come to realise the difference between taking a photo and capturing the moment in a magical way. I have grown up with pro photographers around me all of my life and know the images I want to capture but the art form of capturing that perfect image and the feeling of the day takes a lot of skill and training. Those that do this well are in high demand and charge accordingly.

I do agree though some prices have blown out and I think it is up to you how much you want to pay and can afford to pay for this part of your Wedding. Quantity doesn't equal quality, but does ensure that you you have a better chance of having that perfect image (expression, eyes open etc).

I would expect to pay up to $3000 for the coverage i want and knowing what the industry charges for raw materials etc, however i am realistically setting aside $1500 with hope for buddy rates applying.

We are paying $1000. Originally was $1200 but talked him down. This is for the whole day. Both mine and Paul's house before and as late as we want. He is just giving us all the photos and negatives and we are going to make our own professional album up.
