hun, i live 20 minutes north of noosa and trust me, you'll get a better deal in mooloolaba or caloundra (the sunshine coast)... and noosa's only a short trip away... my advice is day trip... it's wonderful but there are better way's to spend your money... the surfing is average except in a few local spots and the beaches in feburary... let's just say, packed... as a born and bred local i've been watching people go nots on noosa for years and for a fraction of the money you can be somewhere else...

i sound very down on the place but it is beautiful and an expericance and you would enjoy yourself... but i promise the entire sunshine coast offers the same benifits that noosa offers but with a lot less of the negatives...
pm me if you need a recommendation for accomadation on the sunshine coast been holidaying there since... well forever or just come and stay with us... we'll pitch you a tent wink.gif

Peta, thanks again for the helpful advice, I'm gonna ring them back and ask how much cheaper it will be if we leave a week after the wedding biggrin.gif What a great idea ... I never would of even thought of it, I'm too wrapped up and stressed about other things ... I'm going bonkers lately! I can tell because I LOVE my mobile phone, but I've been forgetting it at home a lot lately and at peoples houses when we forget to visit, also forgetting stupid things like keys blink.gif I'm losing the plot laugh.gif
Cool, low season starts on Valentines Day, what a great day to set off on a honeymoon biggrin.gif

Thanks heaps msmelis, I'm gonna ask the travel agent to give me a quote on Mooloolaba, I've also heard from others that it's just as beautiful as Noosa, just not as well known by everyone yet, therefore making it a cheaper destination.

Heaps of dining options in Noosa, but some can be $$$ and very busy! I was there in Jan (admittedly, Jan is school holiday season) and the beaches were packed.

Have driven down the coast to Mooloolaba, just as beautiful but less busy.

goin to the chapel..

Hi there!!! You will be extremely happy with beautiful, spohisticated, luxurious Noosa!!! My partner and I tavelled around Australia for 9 months last year (was fantastic!!!) and we stayed in a town called Eumundi which is 20kms from Noosa (if you love markets go there). I was working in Noosa for 3 months and it was a blast. The beach is beautiful and very relaxing. Noosa is very cosmopolitan and the beach gets quite busy, and that was in the months March-June but thats what makes the atmosphere fantastic!!! Lots of tourists. Maroochydore is great also, if your into shopping they have a huge centre there and there beaches are nice too. Have a great time and enjoy!!!!!

Thank you so much for being honest, that's what I needed. I've heard that it's really expensive living over there, so I think it might be better to spend that little more on flying to Vanuatu and then spending less whilst we're over there !!! biggrin.gif

Now I'm going to play the waiting game ... hopefully the prices will go down and they'll release some packages eventually!

hey there. I am from North Qld but just got married at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine coast which is only about 30 min south from Noosa. In my opinion the Mooloolaba beaches are spectacular and just as nice but it does not carry the huge price tag as Noosa because it is a bit smaller. I have stayed at Noosa & Mooloolaba and find Mooloolaba accommodation/food/beaches all to be fantastic and just as good but considerably cheaper. We were there for a week on this visit and have spend many weekends there before and hope to return over and over again.

Hope this helps! Oh also if you want to see the mooloolaba beach you can see it in my wedding pics, it was right on the sand.

Sounds as though you've nearly made up your mind to go overseas but thought I'd add something extra about the Sunny Coast. What everyone is saying about Noosa is right it can be pretty expensive but is really beautiful. Mooloolaba has really come a long way over the last five or so years- there are huge hotels along the waterfront and heaps of places to eat that aren't too expensive. It is probably the most central beach on the coast and it will only take you 15- 20 min to head south to Caloundra and maybe 30 min to go north to Noosa (if you're in a car, and depending on the time of day- the traffic up here can be pretty hectic). The beaches are great also. I work at Caloundra (which was also recommended) and its great. The only thing I would say is that if you plan on going out at night and "partying" Caloundra probably isn't the place, it is more family orientated but there are also great beaches and lots of places to stay and eat there also.

Hope that is of some help to you!!!

K

Thanks for you opinions everyone, but yep ... pretty sure that we will be heading off to Vanuatu. Still going to wait a month till I book it though to see what happens with the prices.
