We're still working out the nuts and bolts of it all, but we've come up with some vague ideas...

Processional
Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Beautiful World mix by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole [I rrrrrreally want this, but it's a 5min song! Dammit!]

Signing
Still unsure, but possibly One Love by the Stone Roses; or #42 by Dave Matthews Band

Recessional
Can't Keep it in by Cat Stevens

Reception entrance
Queen's version of the Wedding March, followed by the Flash Gordon theme song tongue.gif

First Dance
Shake me Like a Monkey by Dave Matthews Band

Katie - up until last year, I was never interested in marriage! Even when I was a kid....

All Shook Up, Elvis Presley (Rock N Roll)

I think we are almost finalised with our main songs.....just have to run it all by FH and hope he doesn't want to change anything! lol

Walking down the aisle song (this one is confirmed by both FH and I now) Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

We probably won't have any processional music as it's a garden wedding and we'll be having photos with our guests pretty much right after the signing and confetti part. We might have something while we sign the certificates though....no idea what yet!

First Dance will be Come Away With Me by Norah Jones (this one is the only other one confirmed by both of us as it's "our song")

Still need to find a song/s for our veil cutting at the reception....I am thinking Last Day on Earth by Kate Miller-Heidke somewhere, it's only a new song but I am obsessed with it at the moment, and it just seems perfect for the veil cutting.....so I just need a few more songs to fill the rest of the veil cutting with, I'm thinking maybe just some classical music there!

Last dance song I really want When It's Love by Van Halen, FH likes the song but not sure I can convince him it's a good last dance song.....lol I'll try though! laugh.gif I want it to be romantic but a bit more peppy to get everyone else up dancing with us so it's a tricky one!

And for our farewells/leaving song (we'll have to choose a few to be playing while we say goodbye to each of the guests) at the moment we are thinking a few songs by The Darkness! Might give the oldies a bit of a shock but we are both big fans and it is just so us, we want some fun music for the farewells, as everything else will be soppy lol. tongue.gif

We're thinking of having This years love by David Gray as our first dance (such as beautiful song) - however, I'm not so sure the lyrics are appropriate. Any thoughts?

"This Years Love"

This years love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time
And I've been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can't go on

Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yeah
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last

So whose to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don't you know this life goes on
And won't you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last

Katie, I think they look pretty appropriate, though you're probably the best judge of that based on your relationship. Saying that, how many people actually listen to the lyrics!! I'm still finding out I've been singing the wrong lyrics to things I've been listening to for years ohmy.gif

I don't think I've heard that song, must look it up ... smile.gif

Hi girlies,

Im pretty new to this site (although, am addicted to it already!!! tongue.gif ), so thought I would make an attempt to jump in on some of the discussions!!

We are actually currently in the process of trying to find a band to play at our reception - its such a long process!!

At the moment the songs which I THINK we are having are: (although we have changed our mind a thousand times already!!)

Feels Like Home : Walk down the Aisle
Don't want to Miss A Thing: Bridal Waltz.

Havn't decided what else to have yet...

Another little spin we are having for our music, is we are having my younger brother (19yo) and his GF sing at our ceremony... they are both studying musical theatre and have AMAZING voices, and my FH would have loved to have him in his bridal party, but as my bro lives in Perth (we live in NSW) it's too hard to try and organise suit fittings etc...so we decided that this way he could still be part of our special day... wub.gif

Great idea, I'm doing something similar. FH and I only wanted a small bridal party of a best man and MoH, so for my other 3 girlfriends I have asked them to sing during the signing. One friend (who has an amazing voice and whose dad is an amazing piano player and will be playing for the wedding) will be singing Ben Harper's "Beloved One". The other two girls, who also have good voices and great harmonies together, are singing 1,2,3,4 by the Plain White T's (i just asked them the other day and they are over the moon!!)

And you're right about this forum, it's VERY addictive, and extremely useful!

Don't want to Miss A Thing: Bridal Waltz.

Do it tongue.gif I am biased though, because it was the first part of our bridal waltz, but it is such a pretty and dramatic song biggrin.gif
Good luck with it all!

I was listening to some stuff last night and i'm not sure if it's us. OR where to have them.

Newton Faulkner - If this is it
Forest Gump Theme
Jessica's theme - The man from snowy river

Arghhhh.... It's so hard. he he he
