The great barrier reef and Whitsunday islands are truly beautiful. I have many happy memories around that part of Australia.

If you would like to have a quick scoot around the area look thru these sites.. or ask any of the girls who have holidayed there to send you photographs.

We went to Brampton Island and it was WONDERFUL. There are loads of free activities, incl. catamarans, archery, golf, fish feeding etc.

The staff were fantastic, even bringing me my dinner one night when I was badly sunburnt.

I would recommend this island to anyone - honeymooners, families, older couples.

This is the south molle honeymoon package. VERY good value smile.gif

You can do those three included activities AND then order/prebook a reef or snorkel tour thru them or the island directly. You end up having a whole week filled with fun activities and LOTS of food/drinks smile.gif

That site also has the same kind of offer for long island and surfers paradise.

We went to Daydream Island, it was awesome, we did lotsa things, great barrier reef, parasailing, snorkelling, jetskiing, and it was great because it is a 'honeymooners' island there was maybe 3 kids there!

I loved sitting in the pool bar and drinking yummy cocktails. I would defiantely go back!

Well for our honeymoon we went to Brampton and it was the PERFECT choice for us. We had only 1 week for our honeymoon, we wanted somewhere primarily honeymooners and we didn't want to revisit other islands we had been too. All the food was already included like a club med, and the island had also been taken over by Voyages and refurbed.

I would highly recommend Brampton.

I had been to Daydream and while they have a lovely day spa they also have expensive restaurants that I feel are not worth the money and a lot of children on the island which being a teacher I did not want for my honeymoon. Brampton discourages small children.

I had also been to Hamilton several times and felt it wasn't romantic enough for my likings, too busy, for my honeymoon although I have enjoyed each time I have been.

I would got to Lizard or Bedarra if I could afford it but they were beyond our budget at the time.

I have also been to Indonesia, Fiji and Hawaii. I would recommend Hawaii - so beautiful and such great deals going at the moment. But as for Fiji and Indonesia I preferred the Whitsundays more

Good luck choosing

We went to Daydream for our honeymoon during school holidays (we had no choice) and there were LOTS of kids. It didn't matter too much for us, as there is a private couples' dining room, but if you want to go there, I would recommend a time when it's not school holidays.
However we had a FANTASTIC time anyway. smile.gif

Went to Long Island with h2b for a holiday and while we had a fantastic time and it was beautiful it was very family orientated. We'd booked at Brampton and had to chage our dates. 2 other teachers both went to Brampton for their honeymoons last year and thought it was absolutely fantastic and very romantic.

Tas when did you go? I just checked a site for reviews and everyone said it is very run down. The rooms are dirty, bathrooms are horrid and the overall service was very average? Have also read a couple good ones but the most recent were these type. I understand it is not a big 5 star sort of resort more a nice budget sort of place. How did you find it? And anyone else who has been there?

I would highly recommend Brampton.

We are also going to brampton island (out decision was made easier from the wonderful comments about Brampton on I-do - especially from Chelley!) And spending another week at Airlie Beach
"It's impossible" said pride.
"It's risky" said experience.
"It's pointless" said reason.
"Give it a try" whispered the heart...

Hi - we went to Airlie Beach for our honeymoon and stayed in Airlie Beach and not on an island. It was quite good to stay there and not be 'stuck' on an island if we didn't want to if you know what I mean smile.gif We did day trips to Hayman Island which was fantastic! We also did a 3 island day trip and there is heaps of other choices as well. The place we stayed in Airlie Beach had a view over the water and we could sit in the spa and look at the beautiful blue water and we just had a great time. Just another option smile.gif
