i was just wondering if you guys are having (or had) a trial make-up? ive seen the girls portfolio and i really liked it but a trial run is going to cost me the same as on the wedding day and i just see it as a bit of a waste of money... what do you think? am i just being cheap? xx

Hi Samantha

I did have a make up trial and I also paid the same amount as what I did on the day for the trial.

I am glad I did, as that way I was able to let her know exactly what I was after. Even then though, when I saw the final result I did need to let her know that it was a bit heavy on the blusher as I'm not a real blusher girl.

It's just something I wanted to do as I didn't want to be mucking around on the day of the wedding fixing make up that I didn't like.

A lot of girls I know have their trial done on the day of their hens night or kitchen tea. That way at least you're getting some 'use' out of it.

I had a hair/make-up trial before my wedding and I'm really glad I did. I think it was a bit of peace of mind for me, so I didn't have to "worry" about it on the day of the wedding.

I found that it was good to have the trial because then if there was anything I wanted to change, or wanted slightly differently, I could do so. I liked my trial, but LOVED my hair/make-up on the day. It was exactly what I wanted because I was able to really visualise it in the trial, and make a few little changes! smile.gif

I remember having a make-up trial, and I think it was about $10-$15 cheaper than the one I had on the day. I can't recall if I had a hair trial or not...I assume I must have done.

Hi Karma.

I would have a trial with the makeup because you never now if she really did what is in her portfolio plus it should be a little bit cheaper because they don't spend as much time on it.

I had planned on it however I ended up with one of the girls from work doing it. She was a beautician that specialised in bridal makeup and I trusted her with my life so we just did it on the day.

I think it is worth having a trial as it gives you an idea of exactly what she is doing for your wedding day... biggrin.gif The last thing you would want done is to go by photos and then she does your make up on the day and it is not quite how you wanted it!!! ohmy.gif

I haven't had my trial yet but I've had make-up done in the past for Graduation and Deb Ball and it was definately worth paying the money for the trial. I'm having my wedding trial for hair and make-up a week before the wedding because then what I want and how to do it will be still fresh in everyone's mind.

Hey lovee,
kat's idea is fabulous, but just be careful. some of the chickies on here have had their trials done and didn't like it at all, and they had to use a different person. having your trial a week before, maybe a little too late to try and find someone else, and besides i don't think you'd want the headache of doing that a week before your wedding.

my weddings not until june, but i'm having 2 trials done this month. I just can't decide between two people so i've booked both of them and after the trial i'll decide who to book. makeup and hair for me on the day is important to me.

if your worried that they won't remember what they did for you, take your camera and take alot of photo's.

love
janine.

Of course, you can always make the most of your makeup trial by going out to dinner afterwards so it's not wasted! Don't forget to get someone to take some pics of you with the makeup on so you can see how it photographs.
