Although I'm not familiar with flowers and never bought flowers from florist, I'm wanting to DIY my flowers for my wedding (my bouquet, bridesmaid, corsages and buttonholes) to save myself some $$$.

I have been searching for flowers market or wholesaler (who could offer a lower price than ordinary florist), but no luck! 99% of them only sell to florists and not to public. I only managed to find one website that sell individual / bunches of flowers online. But I'm hoping I could find one that I could actually go and visit to have a look.

So, does anyone know of any flower market or wholesalers in Melbourne that actually sell to the public (preferably near the eastern or south eastern suburbs)? I quite often read that people get their flowers from "market", so where exactly are these markets?

For your info, I'm mainly after lavender and roses.

Please help!!!

Kennis I bought my centrepieces through a floral wholesaler and saved $30 each. I had simple potted phalaenopsis orchids and saved a fortune.

The only catch was I had to be a business to order through the company. I had a friend who has an ABN to order for me.

The company is based in Melbourne. PM me if you'd like their name and address smile.gif

Ooh, I hadn't thought about whether they would sell to the public or not. Does anyone know if the Sydney Flower Market at Parklea does??? Sorry to hijak but I'd planned to go up there soon and never even thought about it!

I'm pretty sure that the sydney flower market in flemington sells to the public... a few of my friends who've had weddings went there early to buy them cheap. I am going myself in a few weeks time to check it out so that when my wedding day nears in October, my flower buying can run as smoothly as possible.

The flower market does sell to the public. I am pretty sure that the flower market opens at 5am at the same time that flemington markets opens to the public. Prior to that it is only providors, buyers etc - people with market passes who are allowed in. My father owns an agency down at the markets and generally buys flowers on Friday mornings for my mother and I for our respective houses.
