I've had my trial of good and bad make up done.
For my wedding, I was also in two minds, but decided to go with a professional....

Not just bc they knew what they were doing (as I think I know what suits me pretty well give I wear makeup every day!) but also bc I wanted it to last through the day - that is the part that I thought was worth it...

Where are you located? I am in Melbourne, and I was very happy with my make up artist and she charged much less than what you are being quoted.

i was very fortunate that both my sister and SIL are beauty therapists and i didn't have to pay for mine at all, i had my a SIL do mine because my sister was my MOH and i wanted her to not have to do anything and be pampered herself.

If you are happy doing it yourself or having a friend do it then go for it i know alot of people that did their own make up and it turned out lovely, just make sure you have a good foundation and bronzer and practice different styles effects and take piccies to see how it looks in photos

Completely worth it! I had a trial that was disastourous and so my sister and I thought we could do it ourselves... we did a few trials of our own and I was happy... until the day. I completely lost it while trying to do my own makeup. It just wasnt as perfect as I had hoped it would be! I started crying sad.gif sad.gif and freaking out!
Luckily my hairdresser (who was still doing the girls hair) used to do make-up for tv and so I asked her really nicely to do my makeup as I was running out of time (no trial tho!) and she did it perfect!! smile.gif I was sooo happy and dont know what I was thinking trying to do it myself on my wedding day!

Definelty worth the money!

I haven't read all the replies yet but YES YES YES def worth it.

I didn't want to spend a fortune for photos to look back at them and regret not getting my m/up done professionally, plus it's nice to get pampered.

I did my own make-up for my wedding day, BUT I also purchased professional make-up to do it with. So it was far more expensive. The upside of it, is that I now have wonderful quality make-up that will last me some time.

I think unless you are happy with the make-up you own now it would be cheaper to get a professional to come in.
