this is how i evaluated it

What is the first thing ppl see on your day..??? what is the first thing you see in the photos???

YOUR FACE... and if your face looks perfect then it doesnt matter how your hair/shoes/dress etc look....

Thank you ladies for all your help, I will do it, I've been thinking about today anyway and realized that I would end up buying new make up that would end up costing the same anyway

Everyone I ring is around $90-$150

Really?!

Our makeup artist is mobile and its costing $60for me and $60 for b'maids ( f'girls free for a bit of lip gloss and eye shimmer) I am melbourne based, very happy with this makeup artist and I have had trials with others but chose her...PM me if you would like her details...

I'm with everyone else, it's totally worth it!

That being said if you know what you're doing and you have the right kind of makeup (camera finish etc) you could do it yourself.

But if you don't have the proper make up it's going to cost you around $60 for the foundation alone.

Good luck!

I never even considered doing my own make-up! I'm hopeless. I paid $50 per person to have our makeup done and I don't regret it at all. As someone else said, when you are paying so much for professional photo's, you want to look your best!

My makeup was completely natural, she worked in with the colour of my flowers (pink) and my complexion completely. Mind you, the makeup artist who did my makeup has done all of my special occasion makeup so I know her and trust her implicitly.

If it is the cost which has you concerned may I suggest you consider using a makeup professional from a chemist? That is who I used, and she came to my house the day of the wedding just as anyone else would. This may be a cheaper option, and you can ensure that they use the brand of products that you use normally, just apply them heavier so they last longer.
Happy as a girl can be...

Its all working out now, one of my b/maid was freaking out that my hairdresser (who I love and would not consider having anyone else) will not able able to do everyones hair (me, 3x b/maid and my HTB's 9 y/o neice) SO I found a stylist who I will book a trail with to be sure, but who I am hapy with so far, who can do hair as well, so she can do 2 x bridesmaids hair, and than the make up

Plus my flowers are looking like they will be less than my budget, so it all worked out in the end, now I can pay for the girls as well!

Anyway the logistics of all it makes it worth while to do it anyway...and I do want to look my best tongue.gif

For us it wasn't worth it. I'd had 2 trials and they were both terrible. My bridesmaids didn't like the thought of having their makeup done either and they felt much better doing their own so we saved the money.

I had a trial with an airbrushed makeup place, and it was terrible. After that I considered doing my own makeup (even I could do a better job than the airbrush girl did), but decided to have one last trial, this time with Napoleon. The lady was lovely and did a great job, plus it only cost $45. I thought it was totally worth it, and in my experience, more $$ doesn not necessarily equal a better makeup artist (the airbrush makeup artist was more expensive and her skill, as well as the end result, was no where near as good).

I would say definitely go for it aswell. I was really happy with my makeup artist and it made such a difference in the photos as our features were all more defined so it looked great.

I think it is so worth it. My make up artist gave me war and peace on the history of make up when I first met her, but when she finished the first trial I couldn't believe she actually made me look pretty!

I was so chuffed with the results and I am a person who doesn't wear much at all!

Maybe go and have a play with the make up counters at DJ's or Myer, you can get some tips on how they apply it if you are thinking of sparing the cost and doing it yourself. There are some great artists out there so shop around and have a look for the right one for you.

Good luck, you will make a stunning bride!

Before my trial, I had said 'Definitely', but I hated my trial & realised that I have never been happy when my make-up has been done professionally.

I ended up doing it myself, I am quite confident with using make-up & was certain after having others do my make-up that nobody could do it the way I wanted. Honestly, it looked great, I look at the photos & my make-up is exactly what I wanted. I still give myself a little pat on the back every time I look at my wedding photos.

So the question is....how confident are you with your own make-up skills?

treeish it's because we've all had professional makeup done before and didn't like the results. They know what suits them and how to apply it, they're fairly picky with the products they use and one gets allergies so has to be careful with reactions.
