Not sure if you are interested or not but if you pop into DOL I'm sure they'd be happy to give advice & share stories on the disease your dog sounds like he has. Could give you a bit of an idea what the future may hold.

I hope he gets better soon. I thought it was illegal to sell puppies under 8 weeks of age? Perhaps you could contact the RSPCA. He is still to young to be sold IMO.
All the best little Jaspa.
I called the RSPCA in Brisbane and they advised me there was not an age that was illegal to sell a animal or puppie, i advised the girl i thought it was eight weeks, however she said that this was an assumed age but it wasnt illegal to sell a pup as young 1 day old if somebody was willign to buy it.
THe worst thing is i dont know how long he us going to be in there, he has been at the vets longer than we hae had him at home, me and hubby keep talking about him and imagining doing things with him. We miss him so much, he is such a little cutie pie.
Yes giardia is a protozoan or bacteria found commonly in water and on people hands if not washed properly, could have been passed to him from a person that may have wanted to buy him or hold him at the shop, can be passed to humans in the form of diareah and vomiting, might explain why i have been sick and pooing (tmi) the last 2 days.
The whole house has been disinfected now ready for him to come home when he is ready.

Sorry I didn't post when I first read this as I was at work, but I just wanted to let you know my little Molly and I have been sending some love Jaspa's way!
Glad to hear he is a bit better. Keep us posted.
Also forgot to mention - I think we got our puppy from a pet shop at seven weeks, and my best friend got hers from a breeder at about the same, so it is definately not uncommon.

he is a lot more active and has barked at mummy and daddy twice. We are so happy, we have to give him three different types of medication, but it looks like he is going to pull through.
I must say thanks to you all for your thoughts and interest the last few days, i must admit i really dont want to go throught this again and i dont think i would have coped with out the assistance of my virtual friends.
love to you all
Jaspa and Mrs Barnes
