I've been to Hawaii twice, both to Waikiki and absolutely loved it. Its my favourite place in the whole world (so far!)

Definitely echo whats already been said however will add a few more tips in:

-Don't go to Hanuama Bay on a Tuesday (it's closed)
-The best Luau we went to was Paradise Cove... food was great, entertainment was good and men were hot!
-Excellent nightclub to check out is Zanzabar (behind the main strip)
-For yummy ribs and steak, go to Dave & Busters. We had ribs marinated in Johnny Walker (sounds gross but it's not)
-At the Cheesecake factory, get the appetiser... it's 4 different dishes but don't be fooled, it's enough as a main meal for 4! We ordered that plus a meal each and it was WAY too much food
-Ala Moana is awesome... alot of your Dior, Gucci and LV's but also has excellent retail stores like Abercrombie and Fitch & Diesel
-On the highway just before you reach Sunset beach, there are heaps of Shrimp stacks along the road, stop by any and you wont be disappointed if you love your prawns!
-Bubba Gump in Ala Moana is another fantastic restaurant for prawns... we went there twice in 2 days, yummo!

Umm i think thats all i can remember for now.. it really is so much fun i'm insanely jealous! smile.gif

Yeah we are thinking of staying there. Mainly because we have heaps of Hilton points to use and will get 3 nights free using them. But the resort looks really lovely!!

Our friends are in Hawaii at the moment (they come back tomorrow) and they are staying at the Moana Surfrider. When they get back I will get all the gossip as this was another one of our choices!

We hired a convertible and drove around the island. It was great that way, fun for exploring without feeling tied down to a tour. I didn't drive but my friend who did said it was quite easy as the traffic in Waikiki isn't very busy (out of the main strip that is).

Oh I was at Borders today and reading some travel guides and one of them said that hotels have a 11% tax on top of the actual rate. sad.gif

The Sheraton Moana is just gorgeous. smile.gif

Plus, I think (could be wrong) that it has Dukes bar in there. That is a great place for a cocktail or two.

Hawaii is great fun. We had such a fantastic time over there. smile.gif

Like MissMookz, we hired a convertible (Mustang) and explored the island. We drove up to the North Shore to see Pipeline (the famous surfbreak - H is a fanatical surfer) and Waimea Bay. It was lovely up there and a nice break from the faster pace in Waikiki. Would highly recommend it.

We'd also recommend Maui. We spent 5 days there and loved it. We stayed at the Grand Wailea resort over there which was amazing.

Yep that's right, everything has a tax on top of it, so make sure you calculate that in your head before you pay so you don't get a nasty surprise!

My friend just got back from Hawaii last night. She stayed at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and had a lot of problems. She ended up demanding a room change. She said the hotel is really lovely and right on the beach. She loved Dukes bar, sitting and drinking cocktails watching the sunset.

She also checked out the Hilton, she said it is a HUGE complex and has private gardens and looks really lovely, but it's not directly on the beach.

When I asked her where she would stay next time she said either Sheraton or Hilton but probably the Hilton after all the issues she had at the Sheraton.

She also said 10 days in Waikiki was way too much! She said it is so commercial and wish she had have ventured to other parts like Maui.

But great news! Her boyfriend proposed while they were there smile.gif Yay!!

I *think* the tax is different depending on what it is... sales tax, food tax etc

empress I haven't actually stayed at the Sheraton but it's beautiful - I could've sat on the rocking chairs on the front verandah all day!
