Hello everyone

I'm just wondering where everyone is going/have gone for your honeymoon, how long you went/are going for, when you went and why you chose this destination.

We are about to book our honeymoon and there are too many tropical islands to choose from that I've gotten to the point where the travel agent can decide for us.

We went to Thailand for four weeks!! smile.gif

We were initially only going for two, but a lot of the places we wanted to go gave you free nights if you stay a certain amount etc, so before we knew it we were going for longer. And who I am to refuse four weeks in Thailand?! smile.gif

We were tossing up between New Zealand and Thailand, but worked out if would have cost double to go for the same amout of time, if not a bit less. For all our accommodation, all our breakfasts, some lunches, some dinners, and lots of extras like spas, massages, tours etc, it only cost us a little over $6K for four weeks!!! Too good to refuse!!

We absolutely LOVED Thailand!!! We went to Bangkok, Chiang Mai (our fave), Phuket, Krabi and Bangkok again on the way home and had the time of our lives!! smile.gif

We went to Mongolia for a month last July. We went on a 19-day horseriding trek across the steppes and through the mountains and around the lakes, camping every night. There was nothing tropical about it but it was a big exciting adventure! The best trip I have ever had really!

We spent about $4,500 in total, including loads of shopping for cashmere stuff.

I think if you want to go tropical but can't choose, just go the cheapest. They are all nice aren't they.... biggrin.gif

We are going to New Zealand for 2 weeks. We chose this because it is beautiful and I Scott has never seen it. I also have relatives over there that won't be able to make it for the wedding so we will be dropping in on them while we are there. Unfortunately we are only going to be there 2 weeks as neither of us could really afford to have much longer off work.

We leave the morning after our wedding. We have a morning wedding so it won't be too much of a stretch. We can't wait!!

Where: Thailand, South Korea, Japan and then South America (in that order)
When: When we have enough $$$!! (a long wait in other words). Hopefully within 2 years of marrying!
How long: Aiming for a whole year away tongue.gif

I agree with Mer, if you can't decide just go with the cheapest!

Maldives, it's a bit of a cliche, but couldn't see myself going there for anything but a honey moon, AND have just heard the whole thing will be under water in a couple of decades due to global warming. sad.gif so it's a must see.
How long: only a week. Can you believe I only get 7 days annual leave a year {and work every other Satuday}!!!!

Thanks for the imput. H2B and I are now looking into Thailand coz it looks so beautiful and is so cheap!!!

Vetti, you were right about the free nights. Our brochures are stay 10 nights pay 5. That's excellent value.

I would love to go to the maldives but it is so expensive. But I'm gonna have to go one day soon if th global warming story is true.

We have finally decided and booked Malaysia for 2 weeks.
We originally wanted to go to Vietnam but due to large quotes decided it wasn't worth the money so we have got 6 nights in Sabah followed by 6 nights on Langkawi and 2 night in Kaula Lumpa for some serious shopping rolleyes.gif

We're planning on having 2 weeks in NZ (skiing - got to make the most of a winter wedding) with 5 days skiing and the rest driving around seeing stuff, then a week in QLD H2B's parents own a unit on the beach - luxury for free is my idea of a honeymoon.

I've always wanted to go to the Maldives, but its too $$ and we want to start a family asap after the wedding.

We are tossing up between Fiji, Thailand and Bali.

My parents have timeshare so they are giving us a couple of weeks so we do not have to pay anything for accomodation!

Simon's parents are paying for our airfares so we are just going to go with what is the cheapest when we decide to book but it will also depend on availability with timeshare and stuff.

I don't really mind where we go as I think all of those places will be absolutely gorgeous but we would prefer Thailand as Simon's sister went there (Phuket) on her honeymoon in January and thought it was wonderful.

Getting in on this one a little late, sorry

We went to Coffs Harbour for 2 weeks for our Honeymoon. It is a special place to both of us, that is where we first stayed away together as a new couple.. wub.gif

As well as the fact that we had spent so much money on the wedding, we didn't really want to shell out too much more. We had the best time though.

I think it cost us about $2000 plus spending money, we stayed at a really nice resort and went and did all the 'touristy' things.

As I have mentioned in my post we are going to Vietnam for 2 weeks.

It is actually really cheap, we have flights (including 2 internal flights), 3 night accomodation and visas and transfers for around $1450 each- would have been cheaper if the dollar hadn't dropped. Accomodation for the other nights is really sheap- $20-30 for 3 star and even $100 for 4 & 5 star!

i've just booked four nights at a fantastic B&B on the sunshine coast that we both love... i anticipate starting a new job in early january, so things are a bit too up in the air for a proper holiday, but a few days away are SOOOO necessary (think i can go now?). hopefully we'll get somewhere OS later in the year.

We are off to Bali for 11 nights - staying at the Padma Hotel on Leigan Beach - can't wait!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

We went to Thailand last year and loved so much, I wanted to go back for our honeymoon but Scott wanted to go somewhere difference so we decided on Bali - which I'm still very happy about.

If you go to Thailand make sure that you pack light as the shopping is fantastic. And Fantasea and a day trip to Phi Phi Island are a must if you go to Phuket.
