When we were looking for a site to have our wedding photo's, I too was outraged by the amount that some places were charging !

I am having a "local" wedding in liverpool, so we were willing to travel out to parramatta for the photo's, when I heard the prices that P@rr@m@tta P@rk we're asking for $150 per hour and we had to limit the number of people attending, I was outraged !

1. It's a park
2. You're going to force me to limit the numbers attending ? I don't think so !!
3. You have to pay ? OMG !

Everywhere I would contact about prospective sites, were more than happy to advise me of their charge, without me even asking ! So we accepted that we'd have to pay for a site, even though we weren't happy with the idea.

The site we are in the middle of booking, is only charging us the security call out fee and we can take photo's for as long as we like ! No restrictions ! I couldn't believe it !!! $100 that's it !!!

No one has really thought of this place as a site in our local area and the gentleman that is helping us with it is quite impressed !

So I'd d a little "shopping" around before booking anything smile.gif

i think i'm going to say screw it and go wherever i want. do these sites (like bot@nical g@rdens) really have people prowling around looking for couples to bust getting a dozen wedding shots??

i mean.. it's going to be me, my h2b and the photographer. a few shots in each place. if they have a problem with that.. that is completely ridiculous. I can't believe they would actually try to confisgate the film with 3 people! what do they do then.. call the police? that would be kinda scary though.. but i hope to all heck that doesn't happen to us!! maybe i'll talk to the photographers i have in mind before i book and see what their view on participating in this will be! how sad!

i fell more strongly about not paying now its not even funny!

how the heck am i supposed to know i was supposed to pay if i didnt call to ask? there arent ad's on telle saying you cant do that so how can they police something without people knowing they cant do it.

My photographer had the attitude that when you can get away with something is on your wedding when your in your bridal dress. So, I wouldn't bother paying for it to be honest, I would run the risk really.

I'm going to go against the grain (is that even a saying? huh.gif ) here and say that I would just pay it.

If it was my wedding day, I would think it's only $120 and I'd rather not have to worry about being caught and just relax and have some beautiful shots taken. Being caught, having to talk things over with a ranger etc would have the potential to put a dampener on the day.... and it wouldn't be worth it for me.

I'm sure you won't get caught though, and if you're willing to take the risk - all the best to you.

I'm just a bit of a goody-goody when it comes to this stuff.

yeah against the grain is a saying.

well i say, to each their own. i guess it's about personal preference and if it's worth the risk. but for me.. it irks me and we don't have $120 to pay for a couple shots. $120 is a lot to me! but that's just me.. i can be really frugal about money.

i just think the main point of the charge is about using the photos for commercial use.. and with weddings.. obviously the photos are for private personal enjoyment and reflection. so that's my idea about it

I totally hear you Amy. smile.gif

The one thing I hate is being anxious... and in that situation I probably would be. I'm a real dork when it comes to those things. Never wagged a day off school in my life, had one sick day in 5 years.... and felt guilty all day even though I was sick.... a real dork.

I know I'm in the minority.... but I'm okay with that. tongue.gif

oh chantelle, you goodie goodie! haha just teasing wink.gif

but yeah.. everyone has their differences. i wasn't like that with school.. at all.. but with work i'm definately like that.. so i understand! smile.gif

yeah my weakness is i can be a bit of a cheapie.. sounds bad but maybe it's where i come from or how i was raised or something. i've always had to work really hard to pay for everything when i was young, so i try to stretch money as best i can. plus coming from a smaller town in the states it's hard for me when i live in a bigger city like sydney because things just are so much more expensive. and right now both my finace and i are having trouble with jobs.. so heck maybe we won't even have anything like the wedding i'm invisioning!

anyway..but in this case.. i dont think i'll budge. sorry.. not for 2 of us smile.gif if anyone tries this.. let me know how it turns out! i hope it goes ok. might be a little easier at a park.. but maybe a popluar place like bot@nical gardens might be harder.. typical that's where i want to go!

We are having some photos taken at Sydney Hospital and we will need to pay a $110 fee for doing so...

We are happy to do that because the shots there are fantastic and we dont want to be bothered on the day... like Chantelle, i am a wuss when it comes to these things so would rather pay the money and be hassle free smile.gif

Not sure Christine but i am sure if you paid and they haven't, they will be the ones told to go somewhere else.

There must be something beautiful about the park for you to want to take your wedding photos there. That beauty costs to maintain. I would think it reasonable to pay a fee as it would go to the upkeep and maintenance of the park.
