In the end my father walked me half of the way then my mother the rest.

I don't think he was too happy about it (he found out outside the church because it slipped my mind in all the commotion - see my newly weds post) but he did it and was very happy about the father daughter dance

I had (have) the exact same dilema. My dad and I aren't close. When we talk all he ususally does is put me down or make me feel like shit, don't think he means too, he just does.

Where as my mum and I are extremely close, she is my best friend. I wanted her too and told dad this much and he wasn't happy at all.

After talking to mum I folded, and said sorry to him and re-asked him too.

I am having mum in the car with me for the 1/2 drive from hotel to church. She is absolutely the only one I want with me then, dad will meet us outside and then walk me down. Mum, Step dad, Dad and Step mum will all say "We do" give me away.

I still want mum to do it as I don't feel like dad has earned the right, but at the same time don't want to damage whatever fragile relationship exists between dad and I.
