Still haven't found what I'm looking for by U2.

My DJ told us that one wedding he did the bride was quite adamant that she wanted that song as the bridal waltz because the groom loved U2. Unfortunately for her, she'd only heard the first few lines, thought it was lovely, and then became horrified as the bridal dance progressed tongue.gif

We have been to a few weddings recently, and those songs (nutbush, macarena etc) have been played and everyone has got up and danced .. it seems to be one way to get people up on the dance floor - even if they are a bit 'corny'.

all those cheesy songs are in my cd rack... not sure I would have anything appropriate. YES i am aproud owner of Achy beaky Heart and sing along everytime (then again i have a secret like for country music) Other not appropriate songs would be:

BITCH - meredith brooks
Mr Vain
Mouth - merril bainbridge
your forgiven not forgotten - the corrs

and lots of other songs i like... I know some of those rutine dance songs are lame but they do get ppl dancing and if we were to have dancing at our reception i'd definatly include a nutbush and macarena

the absolute worst song I've ever heard played at a wedding was;

meatloaf- 2 out of 3 aint bad

i have to say that I've heard some real crackers-probably coz the couple love the track but havent given much thought to the lyrics- such as

every breath you take- the police (or was it sting)
or
nothing compares- Sinead O'conner

we will have a few cheesy dace classics for the kids and grannies but only a couple.

it must've been love but it's over now! must've been good but we lost it somehow...

maybe not the best roxette song.

um... i hate everything about you by ugly kid joe...

there's a song called 'i got friends in low places' by garth brooks that'd be really inappropriate hahaha (it's about a guy crashing his ex's wedding)

development is a journey, not a race

Wellll...hope I dont offend anyone with this but I have to share!!

Received sample playlists etc from our DJ the other week and there was a song on there called "pu$$y whipped". I thought this was HILARIOUS!!!! I told my mother and when she stopped laughing, she told my dad whose first comment was "how appropriate", then he suggested we play it for me to walk down the aisle to!!!!!

Thinking we WILL play this at our wedding, but everyone at our wedding (including my 85 year old grandmother) will get a great kick out of it!!

A lot of people would disapprove though tongue.gif

I swear to god, every second wedding I work at someone asks for "Tainted Love". How do you explain to a bridesmaid that you have the song, but you don't think it's a good idea to play it. Shame, I have the extended version that goes for 13 minutes...a ripper

My fiance and I are planning to have some corny songs at the reception, you know, songs that seem great to dance to toward the end of the night, like nutbush, timewarp maybe the bus stop. Although, I have to agree that the chicken dance may be a mistake.

That song: "if you can't be with the one you love honey, love the one you're with" laugh.gif

As for that top 20 list of bad songs, is that the one off pay tv? I resent that list! You're the Inspiration is the most beautiful song ever and was our processional. I think our recessional Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden also made the top 50. Bah! Like American pre-pubescent doonk-doonkers know anything!
