A while back I posted a topic about a website that I found on wedding photojournalists association.

I wanted to share this great site with all brides who want highly artistic photography for their wedding, but my post has been deleted.

While I understand that we are not supposed to ‘endorse’ here – my intention was to merely share with all of you this photography site.

I don’t understand how one post could talk about one particular photographer and gush about how good he/she is, but I can’t talk about a world wide site that represents more than one talented photographer????

oh i didnt even see it... that would have been interesting!! we arent fans of traditional photography (well not MAJOR fans)
You can travel the world, But you can't run away,
From the person you are in your heart,
You can be who you want to be, Make us believe in you,
Keep all your light in the dark,
If you're searching for truth, You must look in the mirror,
And make sense of what you can see,
Just be.... Just Be..

Face up to the fact: That you are who you are
and nothing can change that belief...
Just be... Just Be.

Strange, the mods move in mysterious ways tongue.gif

Depending on who replies to posts in the photography/video, you may have offended someone who advertises on I-do. I've been crucified in the past by someone who didn't like something I said, so maybe someone made a complaint to admin about your post?

It's simple - the worldwide site is competing against the interests of the people who financially support i-do.

Maybe if you had said you know of a fabulous site that you really want to recommend and for people to PM you for information, that might not have been deleted. It is all in how you do it I think! There are ways to recommend something you love, just have to find the fine line and try not to step over it!

It's promoting the services of people who don't pay for advertising that's how. Although it's publicly accessible, this site is run by i-do for their commercial interests - they get to set the rules just like I do if you are a guest in MY house.

I didn't make the complaint but I fully endorse the decision to pull the thread. I suggest you contact Lisa if you have any issues.

i can totally see your point there Christian.

what gets to me though is when people ask for recomendations, and then we get responses which say "oh these guys are THE BEST" or theyre great or this or that... when all the while, the people saying this stuff HAVENT actually hired the companies in question.. or they have hired them to do a job in the near future, but HAVENT done the job yet...

Now THAT annoys me...

I don’t know what a reputable photographer should be doing in a bride forum anyway? Don’t they have clients to shoot? Photos to print? Instead of getting all fired up about what brides talk about, they should spend their energy improving the quality of their work.

What worries me about this forum is that professionals with vested interest give their ‘opinion’ obviously designed to generate more business for themselves. What is more unethical? The client giving recommendations based on their experience or the business owners lurking around looking for opportunity to up sell themselves?

Quick Question:

How do we know it was a photographer that reported the post in the first place?

I hope you are aware there are programs available that can search pages for external links.. admin could have just done on of those searches, read the post attached to it, and then decided they didnt want it up.

As for professionals being on the boards, you'll find (and please someone correct me if Im wrong), that Christian actually has permission from admin to be here to give advice to brides and couples wanting a pros opinion on photography etc... so as not to spread bad advice..

I think you will find that just about every photographer/ video producer who advertises on this site reads what is being said in the forums. They would be stupid not too.

Who said it was a Bride's forum Armina?

Have another look at the title; it's a "photography and video" forum - most of us have zero commercial interests (especially me - I have tonnes of work and it's all up to date thanks very much) and visit here simply to offer advice and right the wrongs.

Do you honestly think that the tone of my posts (do a search) is somehow designed to deliver more business? You obviously haven't been around here long...
