I wasn't going to wear it over my face but I think I have changed my mind after all the advice I have had. Most people think it is beautiful to have your new husband lift the veil - particularily girls who have been brides. My veil is floor length so I am having a 2 tier veil.

I am still a bit undecided but I think I will wear a veil at the ceremony but not over my face, leave it on for the pics on the beach and then take it off for the reception.

The thought of having it over my face gives me the creeps a little.

Just spoke to H2b about it and he doesnt like the idea of it being over my face either. So im going to keep it back all day. I'll probably have to take it off after the ceremony anyway cause chloe will pull on it so my sister should understand. If not too bad!
Mum of three. Some I get to hold in my arms...all I get to hold in my heart.

If your parent dies, you are an orphan. If your spouse dies, you are a widow.
But if your baby dies... there is no word for that.

Hi

Can I join in on this one? I have a question for Simone (aka Busterella). I just looked at your wedding pictures and realised you had your ceremony at the Rotunda at Balmoral. That's where I'm having mine! It looked fabulous and it's great that there's so many excellent places around there to take photos. My question is about your veil. I wasn't going to have one but I love the one you had. When I was looking at veils when I bought my dress there was nothing like that. Did you have it made?

I had my Veil over my face. Apparently I didnt stop fidling with it during the ceremony, only because the wind was blowing before we went in the church and it got all twisted and when Mum put it over my face it didnt feel right as it was still a bit twisted. If it wasnt windy it would have been fine though. It was nice when Nathan lifted it to kiss me!!

Sorry Girls!

This is going to sound really horrible, but why bother having a veil if you are not going to have it covering your face, before the big reveal and the 'you may kiss your bride' bit.

I went to a wedding where the bride had it on for good looks but did nothing with it! I personally think its odd!

You can still look like a bride and not have a veil over your face or even hanging.

I am going for the traditional look of the veil over the face!

biggrin.gif Its all good and can understand your point ... esp considering the amount of $$ veils cost laugh.gif

My own reason for not wearing the veil covering the face through the whole ceremony is ........

H2B doesn't want me too ... his reasons have something to do with something in the bible where a guy married the wrong girl an ddidn't know she was the wrong girl until after the vows were made and he lifted the veil to kiss his bride ....

I know nothing of the bible so this is just what H2B has said.

As romantic as the veil lift for the kiss sounds ... I personally couldn't care either way and besides its his day too so I have to let one thing go his way laugh.gif

Yes my veil was made by the same person who made my dress. It was probably expensive for what it was but they dyed it to be the same colour as my dress and I loved it. It was so soft and flowy.

I was made out of silk georgette.

Balmoral had some great photo opportunities. There was no need to travel somewhere for the photos because we were there already.

I will have a veil as I think they look great and I think that it has a real air about the bride arriving veiled and then the unveiling of the bride at the chosen time. I will have mine lifted back as soon as I have walked down the aisle (by dad right after he has finished escorting me. I dont want it blowing into my face during the cermony and ticking my nose (outdoor ceremony).

I think I'll end up going without a veil. The only one I've seen so far that I like is the one Simone had and I'm not sure that would go with my dress. The chiffon is very soft and floaty and my dress is made of a sort of taffeta material.

What does everyone think. Would the two different fabrics look bad together? It looked great with Simone's dress as her dress was a soft material.
