Well we are moving in 2 weeks as we have sold our house and we will be renting (from my parents).

Our mortgage was $430pw on a 3 br, 1 bathroom, 2wc, 1 combined living/dining room, HUGE yard 10 mins to city in Adelaide.

Our rent will be $360pw (house could get up to $390-$400pw). This is for a 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 toilet, 2 living areas, sep. dining, decent yard good condition brick house. It is 15 mins from the city, and 5 mins to major shopping centre (westfield) where I work!

This is also the house we will be left in my parents will, so I guess although we are renting it is not dead money as such.

It also means we can save some money and we will be back on our feet financially. We will have no debts WOO HOO.

Very special circumstances but we pay $50/week. rent is apparantly increasing and we better be getting something for that increase.

Would rather be paying more for some damn space and privacy!

We pay $320 for a 2 bedroom deco garden apartment in Bondi Beach. Ridiculously expensive for most of Australia, but actually quite cheap for Bondi biggrin.gif

It's a lovely place, rather small, but gorgeous and has a fabulous garden. We also live in a small, well maintained block with nice neighbours - which is a bit of a rarety around these parts! Like Chantelle, I'd love to get rid of the backpackers in the surrounding area!

I agree... Nice and cheap. We just moved from a beautiful, but small, 2 bedroom art decoo apartment in bondi beach to a huge 2 bedroom with city views (and harbour views from our street) in Rose Bay.

Old place - $340
New Place - $430

For such a great location I think it's worth the money! I love the east and how central we are. We drove to the botanic gardens today - took 5 minutes and yesterday went down to Ben Buckler to watch the sunset!

I love Sydney and would never move!

I pay $170 a week for a 2 bedroom houselette (unit) it has an outside toilet and laundry. I share the backyeard and clothesline with a guy who lives in a granny flat right behind me which is joined by the one verhandah.
I have a small front yard, the inside is pretty nice the bathroom need renovating to match the rest of the house.
There are no built in robes ut it has AC and gas heating. No garage just a driveway.

I think $170 might be a little expensive but for what I get compared to some people who pay more I'm very lucky! And its not a very long walk to the main street and shops.

We pay approx $110 a week as we live in a DHA house. Its huge though, 3 bedrooms all with built ins, kitchen, lounge, dining area, nice big verandah overlooking the park over the road, full air con and security screened, and double garage. While he is in the army we will continue to rent from DHA as it is so cheap and it is allowing us to pay extra off our land and car loans.

*wins* hahaha i have the cheapest house so far!

Nope that would be me! laugh.gif

Although I don't think it counts 'cos we pay $0
Our house is provided by the Company we work for - granted it's a tiny little 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1901 cottage and we live in a ghost town, and we overlook one of the largest open cut mines in the Southern Hemisphere - but at least it's free! laugh.gif

We Pay $400 per week in Narrabeen for a 2 brm (+ study) house, which is actually really excellent for this area.

I'm not exactly sure where Narrabeen is, but $400/wk on rent is just mind blowing to me. My parents mortgage isn't even that much. My friend just bought a brand new 4 x 2 and his mortgage is $290/wk. I live 30km sth of Perth, 10km from Rockingham and I pay $150/wk for a 3 x1, huge bedrooms, 2 lounge rooms, big kitchen, ducted a/c, wood fire, large backyard with paved area and a separate gazebo and bbq area. My rent goes up next mth however to $160/wk which I knew would happen eventually when a valuer came round a few mths ago sent by the owner. I am a single parent of a 3yr old, and to me $160/wk is a waste of money, but with just one income from a p/t job theres no chance of buying sad.gif

We pay $430 for an apartment! But houses around here to buy cost $1 million + and appartments are $600,000 for anything decent! So renting is pretty cheap compared to possible mortgage repayments....
