OMG, we got ripped off for our honeymoon. We paid $8500 including spending money for 7 nights at Hayman Island. Your deal sounds good.

don't worry Simone, I think the quote is $9000 per person, not total!

Jen, that is such a good price

Yeah double the time but still double the price!

Mauritius, depending on seasons, will have specials where you stay 14 nights but only pay for 7. It could well be that they are travelling when one of those offers are on. I don't know if it extends to all room categories either.

Simone, Hayman is a very expensive island, it rarely discounts its rates except in winter, and especially not in January! I would love to go there

Also, be aware of hotel ratings given by the varying travel companies. They can often rate them themselves, without reference to the criteria that distinguishes the various star ratings from one another and there can be discrepancies between ratings. Ie one company may rate it three star, whereas another may rate it 4 and a half.

We are having our honeymoon on Brampton Island and whether it was 4 or 5 star wasn't important - we were looking for other features eg no kids or daytrippers, all meals included, activities included, close to home so not losing time flying etc.

For both of us 7 nights all inclusive with spa treatments and champagne thrown in plus return airfares and helicopter transfers it is $4000 and I think that is a good deal - we are in the top level of accomodation.

I would be looking more at the vibe of the place and recommendations

We are still recovering from the cost of the honeymoon but it ended up costing us around $12K for ours...

That was 4 nights in Singapore and 7 nights in Maldives.....(including flights, meals, accom and spending)

I think it was all that shopping in singapore that bumped up the cost tongue.gif

It could of been $18K if you include our free upgrade to FIRST CLASS!!! biggrin.gif (there is no other way to fly, i am offically spoilt)

Well we were orignally flying Business Class but got the upgrade when we checked in....talk about living it up! It was a British Airways flight and there are only 15 seats in that section of the NOSE!!!! We were served great french wine (5 glasses later!), I had lobster as my main meal, a table cloth and flower on my dinner tray. My own feather doona, personal dvd selection on top of the general movies....the list could go on...

As for the Maldives we stayed at Agsana, it was divine...the food and cocktails were divine, the Island itself only took 5-7 minutes to walk around and we were snorkelling with fishies, sharks and dolphins! Just being able to watch the sun set and rise on your own bit of white sand beach was heaven!

Will try and post some piccies 2night!!

we recently went to Fiji (just for a holiday but it was at a honeymoon resort) and it cost us total 12K for 13 nights

i also agree with all the posts saying that 4 star can be just as nice (sometimes better) than 5 star
the island we stayed at was 4.5 star i think because it did not have room service or a phone in the room, but it was truly an indulgent, private beachfront bures, resort where all you had to do was ask and it would be done

dont be too quick to judge based on stars alone, check out the resort's websites and forums on what people thought of places
i think 'tripadviser' has good REAL traveller reviews of destinations and accomodation (it has helped me avoid a seemingly 5 star property advertised in the qantas brochure that apparently stinks of cigarette smoke and one traveller found dirty sheets!!!!!)
