I can totally recommend Fiji. Went there for 13 nights back in 2002 and one day would love to go back. It was our first time overseas so we decided to splurge a little bit and enjoy it because we did not know if or when we would get the opportunity to go overseas again. Depending on where you go in Fiji (as a few of the i-do girls can vouch for) you will have a fantastically memorable honeymoon.

The people are so friendly and helpful!

We are sort of in the same boat, except we have no house yet.
What we've decided to do is spend a ridicluous amount of money but go for a LONG time (about a year we think).
We've decided to leave the honeymoon until we have enough money for it and a house deposit (so we can buy a house practically as soon as we get back).
I couldnt justify spending thousands and not going for a long time. But then we're definatly backpackers! Not into lying around on a tropical beach for a week, i can't imagine anything more boring (Sorry girls! Just my opinion, I know it's the most popular holiday option). smile.gif
We probably will have a little (week or two) trip to somewhere in Australia as a mini-honeymoon (I'm thinking Tassie).

friends of ours are planing $45K for there honeymoon, yes you read that right. They are taking 8 weeks off and going OS, not sure where. WOW is all I can say.

Where on Earth are they going? Where in the world can you spend that much $$$ in 8 weeks?
We've done our sums and we need about $30K for a YEAR! Which still gives me heart palpatations to think of it...

As we are planning to go overseas for three years at the end of next year, we have decided to spend less on our honeymoon and then have a three year honeymoon!! We are going to go to Byron Bay for 10 days and vege and relax and eat, drink and be very very merry!

I think if you have the money, or even if you can afford it in any way, you should totally splurge on your honeymoon. I know we would be going somewhere like Bora Bora if we weren't going away for so long later - just because it is our honeymoon and you just HAVE to spoil yourself for that one time!

Sara and Stephen got a fairly inexpensive honeymoon. They are booked at Crusoes Retreat in Fiji for 8 nights. All up it is costing them $1700 plus some pocket money. I had enough points to get their airfares for free (just $240 airport taxes). They are setting up a registry to pay for the honeymoon, so hopefully it won't cost them much at all.
They are in the same boat as some of you, they will be in their new home just before the wedding, and hopefully another baby 9 months after the wedding (Ryan will need a playmate).

We splurged big time!!! We figured it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it will be H2B's first trip overseas. And when we get back we hav plenty of time to pack up all our stuff and move into our own home!!

We are splurging a bit too. We plan on a smaller wedding to compensate. It will be a 11 night P&O cruise through New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Which is costing us around three thousand each. (But all meals and activities onboard are included) This will be the adventure. And then we will be stopping in sydney for four or five nights after to relax and be on our own.

We live in Brisbane but our hearts are in Byron Bay. We had just been through Europe & Uk (where we got engaged!) the year before so we wanted somewhere close. Byron was the only choice. We stayed in a luxurious guesthouse right on the beach and spent our days on the beach, eating out relaxing, taking kindy naps etc! It was a wonderful way to relax after the madness of the wedding planning etc. I would recommend somewhere that you can afford, but will get to spend some quality time doing the things you love the most. smile.gif

I cant decide what to do. At the moment its down to the Maldives, Bora Bora or 4 weeks in Europe, bearing in mind that it will be freezing in Europe (have done USA in blizzard conditions so not too concerned).

Other option is to do 5 nights in Bora Bora, then go to Europe for 4 weeks during their summer.

We have an 18mth old and have bought a house in the last yr. We are going to a beautiful (not too touristy) qld island (moreton island), which is beautiful, with 3 sides national park. We are staying in a beachcomber unti on the beachfront that is self contained for 2ppl 7ngts $1187 including transfers and a full hot breakie daily for us both. We will book the airfares in the next cheap round to brissie. So all up about $2k.

If u want more info pm me.
