"they have 140 weddings booked this year I have also heard the Dan/Cathy story (lies more like it) from other people. "

140 weddings.. that wouldnt surprise me.. alot of the companies weve spoken to have tried to palm off other photographers to us who "work for the company"
Then again, it could just be bullsh!t
I remember in July last year a friend of mine paid somethign liek $4500 for her photos, he ended up losing all the family shots at the park, and left at 6pm to go on a date and left his assistant there...

As far as im concerned, if im paying THAT much money, i want the person im speaking to to be the one whos going to be there on the day..
Its total bollox when they do double and triple bookings.. then have the audacity ta call that service..

I havent heard that story, id like to though!!! Do go on!!!

I am SOOOOO over the crap in this industry.... So many people are shoddy and dodgy.. and these are the ones who are joined with associations.. makes yo uwonder..

Donna,

I just had a videographer tell me one of his clients paid $12K for a Blumenthal 'package'.. I'm sorry, (no offence to anyone) but can you say 'fleeced'?

I will PM you 'the story'...

No actually i dont...
I just dont like the idea of people getting ripped off... coz wen companies do it once, they think the can do it again and again...

ok fair enough...neither do i but as with everything else its 'buyer beware' if your silly enough not to read the contract and be informed then people are bound to be scammed eventually

Wow Denni your rave review is so.... believable, considering it's your first post here. What did you do? Join up and the first search was for "Blumenthal"? Sorry, but I'm not that gullible and most others are not either.

Their style is awesome and i am going to use them because i love their style.

Have to agree with Empress - it's very rare I'll take a Newbie's review seriously (have to build up some cred first love!).
I've seen there work, and i've seen better work by cheaper photographers.
It pays to look around.

Actually, my H2B and I went for an appointment with Blumenthal today and I'd like to give them a big fat recommendation. We'll almost certainly be going with them.

They're definitely not as expensive as everyone says/thinks and I found them to be really nice and upfront. And I love their photos - which is of course the most important reason.

The people who are paying them heaps are the ones buying huge/multiple albums. And I'm not surprised they end up doing this as the photos are great. They let us look at as many albums as we liked, and told us which of the photographers took which ones. And we looked at entire wedding albums, not just 'best of' series. We didn't feel rushed at all.

And weirdly I preferred albums by Cathy and James ahead of the ones we looked at by Dan. The lady we had the appointment with was actually surprised as she said most people want Dan before they've even seen his pictures.

Although they use film rather than digital, for $300 you can have the negatives scanned onto CD to keep, and if you want to buy the original negatives they're $1000 straight away (I think) and $500 after two years.

They said we could meet with any/all of the photographers before we commit to anything if we want to, and went over the whole process of what's involved.

While we were there we saw two couples going through their proofs and they seemed thrilled with the photos.

And they have a special deal on at the moment where you get a free parents' album too.

PM me if you want more information/prices etc smile.gif

Rowena.

(Oh, and I know I'm still a newbie but this is most definitely legitimate. I was hesitating before we went there because of all the stuff I've read on here, but I was very pleasantly surprised.)
