Hi,

We're looking into Blumenthal Photography but I can't find any previous posts about the costs of their albums. I'm a bit suss about it because their actual package prices seem quite reasonable. Are the album prices outrageous?

Hoping someone can fill me in!

Rowena.

YES!!

I thought they were quite reasonable but when we worked it out including their album it worked out to be about $6500.

Their catch is that you need to buy a minimum number of sides (30 i think) which brought the price up dramatically.

They do take gorgeous photos though...

If you want another great photographer, same candid style PM me and i can give you his details smile.gif

Hi Rowena

We were quoted $5150 for coverage midway thru reception and a 30 side 11x14 inch album.
The album pages work out at $150 per side, and the minimum buy is 30 sides. then reprints are obviously going to be more on top of this.

we ended up going with a different photgrapher, who costs about the same because while i love bluementhals work i didnt feel as if they were too excited about our wedding- i kind of got a too cool attitude from them.

good luck with it!

Yeah coco, we went to see Blumenthal, and whilst we loved the photography in the sample albums, we also got a bad vibe from them.

Other photographers we saw that were of the same price and quality were so much more personable and we actually met the photographer who would be taking the photo's on the day - which I think is a big thing.

When I asked the lady at blumenthal whether we would get to meet the photographer to see how we got along, she said yes sure if you really want to, but not till you book us and give us a deposit! Really made us think, well obviously he can't care that much about it, it felt like they just churned through the weddings.

I've since seen lots of photo's of theirs in magazines and whilst they are nice photo's, I don't think they're anything that special for the attitude they give off, like the quality is the same as other photographers we saw.

Hello, my first post, I have been lurking here since before my wedding but i have always been too shy to post. I really wanted Blumenthal but could not justify the price. I ended up using a photographer who had a simmilar style and was lovely. I dont think we are allowed to say any names here, but feel free to message me, I could send you a couple of my pictures as well if you wanted to see their style.

I've heard shocking stuff about their 'customer service' as well. It really does seem like they care more about the $ than satisfying the customer. Their are good and all but seem to focus on quantity as well as quality, and all their profits probably just goes into more PR and advertising. Also it is unlikely you get the head photographer Dan, who does all the good work.

I agree. I was actually really surprised i saw them at the bridal expo. I thought they would have enough business by word of mouth without having to suck more people in.

Drat, how did I miss out on that brochure?

Does anyone have one they don't want that they could send to me please if I send them a stamped, self-addressed envelope?

Please!

you can ask to have Dan. If he is available then the meeting should be focused on reviewing his work and discussing his style

we had the same nonchalant vibe when we went there which was the main reason we didnt choose them...

good luck row

Do a search and you will find some more interesting experiences people have had with this company.

Their work is nice but I saw better - and hence booked someone else. I also thought that it is interesting that they are still displaying images taken by a photographer who no longer works for them and she actually has her own studio (but we didn't go with her either).

When you read the small print it certainly comes across that they are not all upfront.

Overall I wasn't that impressed by them.

I had a very interesting experience with them, which included them first telling me that Dan wasn't the main photographer there, that his sister Cathy was (a total lie), then lying that Dan was booked for our day, then eventually saying that he was 'reserved' in case a 'celebrity couple' wanted him for that day! ohmy.gif Definitely the icy attitude!

This is only the tip of the iceberg, if you search back I think I wrote about it around this time last year. In any event, I'm happy to recommend someone whose work is just as good if not better (used to work with Dan) and has an attitude that's a million times better (a few girls have already used him with amazing photos).

Ladies- we used Blumenthal and whilst the photos turned out beautifully we did have a weird experience.

We booked Dan and were told he was free.
Met with Dan and told him about the style we were after.
On the day of the wedding we received a phone call to say that Dan was sick.
We got James (who apparrenty photogrpahed Bec & Lleyton's wedding).
James was nice but hadn't been briefed properly so the style wasn't as candid as we wanted.
James tried to pick up several of my friends at the wedding.

Months later...

We shortlisted the photos that we liked only to find photos that we didn't short list in the 'proposed album'.

The proposed album was 50 pages! and trying to cut it down to 30 pages was a huge drama. The lady was one mega sales person

We picked up the album and found 1 photo that we didn't want in it (but the lady did).

All in all we love our photos but for the proce we paid I did expect better service and attitude.

had a friend use them for her wedding in wollongong..
she paid $5500 for two photographers for 6 hours..

Not sure how she feels about the work, but for that much money, i would expect a perfect and hassle free wedding service before, on and after the day...

I dont think she got that...

And the stories keep coming! I feel sorry for all the couples that have booked them. They seem the most expensive by far and yet their service is... unsure.gif I met with a videographer last week who told me he had worked with them a fair bit and they have 140 weddings booked this year blink.gif I have also heard the Dan/Cathy story (lies more like it) from other people.
