Hi Ladies,
I have booked my reception at Watersedge with the Dockside group and noticed a few other ladies out there with the dockside group.

Just wondering who you ladies are and what you have thought of their package and service so far?
In regards to Service, DJ, Cakes, Food, Lighting, Decorations etc......

Hi Trinh,

I'm having my reception at Dockside in January 2007. I don't have much feedback as yet, as we haven't had much contact apart from being shown around Watersedge and Dockside and making the initial booking.

I thought the package was great, although I think I'm going to get my cake elsewhere as the company who does it doesn't seem to be very flexible. We have chaircovers included in our package, which I was pleased with, and we're going to hire the fairylight canopy and fairylight topiary trees which you can see in some of the pics on the website.

Hey Trinh,

I've also booked WatersEdge for my reception in Nov. I've never been to a wedding there before, however I have attended 2 weddings at Dockside. The venue was beautiful, the food was great, DJ was pretty good and service was excellent.

The whole package appears to be a good deal, esp the hotel room + limo. The good thing is that the alcohol is unlimited, plus they said u can bring your own spirits and they will serve at no charge.

Let me know how your wedding goes biggrin.gif

Hi Ladies, I just had my wedding at the Waters Edge and you won't be disappointed. We had the smaller room (by choice) and there was nothing that went wrong. All our guests enjoyed it especially the English guests for the location. The food was great, loads of comments on the cake. We did not have the DJ but a band. The only thing I would say was that the limousine driver came too early and by the time we got to him, he only took us straight to the hotel and not a drive.

Enjoy the planning and don't be scared to ask them for extras (eg bread rolls etc). If you don't want one of their services eg the cake, limousine, DJ etc you can tell them this and they will deduct money from the final payment but try and do this before you sign the contract. We had $250 deducted because we didn't have the DJ.

Star room bride here smile.gif

don't forget there is another new Dockside venue - Waterview at Homebush Bay. I think Dockside and L'Aqua have the same suppliers and Star room and Waterview have the same but I'm not sure which ones Watersedge has.

Another dockside group bride here!!

We're having our reception at Watersedge in June, in the big room.

Anne (prettyinpink) can I ask you how much the hire of the fairy light canopy is?

And I'm currently asking if we can take the cost of the wedding cake out of our package - as we know a pastry chef who makes divine cakes, and are considering asking him to make our cake. We signed the contract long ago of course, but hopefully we can get that taken our of our price!

Hi Kils,
What have you organised for your recpeption so far? Are you decorating the watersedge any different than the table centrepieces and the fairy light canopy?
I am also having my reception at watersedge in march 07.

thanks for alerting me to this thread empress!

im having my reception at l'aqua in the gold room, in two weeks time (!).
it's been a great experience so far, the menu tasting was divine, although my mother hogged the seafood antipasto entree.
i have my final meeting with the coordinator, mimi, on friday morning.
i may be decorating the room further by hanging lanterns from the rafters, but i'll have to ask if i can first. if not, the view will be the main decoration!

I got a quote today for a six point organza fairylight canopy for $650, through the lady that Dockside recommended.

I had another quote ($880), but the recommended lady worked out almost half the price - because the other one was an 'outside vendor' they wanted to charge me an EXTRA $250 b/c Dockside requires them to pick it up at the end of the reception.

PM me if you want her number!

Wow what does this fairylight canopy look like? is that that thing they drape on the ceiling?

I got quoted $25 by a recommended outside vendor for EACH tablecloth. (I don't like/want white). Anyone know where I can find it cheaper? sad.gif

OMG - Just need to share with you that we are twinnies. You are getting married on the exact same date as me (but a year later) and we had our reception at one of the Docksides!

Had a very exciting day. H2B and I paid another visit to our reception (star room) and ceremony locations to check them out again (and I took like a million photos from all angles smile.gif ) Looks like it's all happening now!

we are trying to come up with ideas to jazz up the place smile.gif

I'm getting married at Star Room on the 24th of June.

I have my menu tasting next month.

Does anyone know if its BYO or you pay for drinks there?

I'm too impatient to wait for the Wedding Coordinator to call me back!

Also, what kind of car is the get away car? a limo?

Did anyone stay at the Sheraton as included in the package? Nice rooms?

Sorry for all the questions.
