I'm thinking of wearing my hair like that too - except I have reddy-brown hair. I think if oyu have a natural wave in your hair it should stay well, but like any cirls will drop a bit if your hair fine and straight.

My hair is about that wavy to begin with so should hold well. smile.gif

I had this hair style with a veil although I didn't wear it over my head. It stayed in even on a windy day. Am uploading some photos as we speak so have a look when they are ready. I will let you know.

Perfect - I want to do the same thing - and I don't care about having the veil over my head!

This is my preferred hairstyle as well. I love that it's still up but it's a softer look than the up-do.

I found this one in Kate21's photos (I think) and the bottom one is my absolute favourite and you could wear a veil with it so this is what I'm trying for. I like the top one too but the veil would hide the detail.

That is a pretty hair do as well.

A veil would hide the detail however you could take your veil off for your reception and reveal your do! biggrin.gif

Hi guys,

I had the Jackie O style for my wedding and it looked perfect. I also had a veil but I chose to have it sitting under the chignon as it was one layer of silk georgette. I also tried having the veil on top - still looked beautiful - but I preferred it underneath. I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures (or maybe my avatar) but have a look anyway....it was a tad tighter than Jackie O's b/c I have quite curly hair anyway....and it was raining on our wedding day so I didn't want it to fall out. smile.gif

Good luck.

Kat

Just a quick update - my hair trial is booked for Feb 5th. That's next Sunday. I'm also having make-up trial that arvo. I'll ask all the questions and take lots of photos.

I think I'm super lucky cos my MOH is a hair stylist and can fix my do quickly if it looks messy after taking off the veil. She is coming to the trial to learn the style so she feels comfortable messing with it on the day if she needs to.

But I also want the neater version of Jacki O's, I don't want the messy look at the front, around the face.

Ok, so it didn't work out as planned. The girl doing my hair, Rhianna, has never met me before and no idea what my hair was like, so she didn't know what products to bring (we did the trial at my MOH's house - they are close friends). So when she saw that my hair was fine but heavy, she knew what she had brought with her wasn't going to work. She wasn't happy at all with the end result and wants to do another trial (all free of charge). She didn't even want me to take photos but of course I snuck some in for you girls wink.gif . But it looks nothing like Jackie O's, and I wan't happy with it either. But I was glad to know she thought the same way I did and we are on the same track, you know?

It was a lot more sculptured around the top, and messier and wider at the back. And it sits very high, althought Rhianna suggested that I stick with the higher chignon to show off my neck. She said that if it sits too low it will make my neck disappear and make me look shorter, even though I do have quite a long neck! It is still a beautiful style, but just not what I want.

Also I didn't have the veil to play with, so next time she knows what she needs to bring and will play with my veil, and find out if it can sit above the chignon, or if I have to wear it below. I pick up the veil around 1st March, so we might do the next trial that weekend maybe.

But here are the pics, as promised, from the first botched attempt....

I agree, it's still a great up do even if the Jackie-O one doesn't turn out! smile.gif

I think it looks quite nice from the side but from the back it looks a bit messy IMHO. That may have something to do with the fact that your hair is (or looks to be) layered?
It's good to experiment though and it would look a little different with a veil over the top.
It looks like you had fun though! biggrin.gif
