Just a quick update from me cos I haven't done one in a while ph34r.gif Not going to copy and paste everything this time....

Savings are on track, at the lower end of what I wanted to be saving but not below the required amount so I'm happy. Have been working quite a bit and managed to have enough spare cash to spend on a few non-necessary things (like the photo wall which is an ongoing project!). Credit card has taken a bit of a battering lately but it's not out of control (yet ph34r.gif).
We landed super-cheap flights to Thailand for early next year so the budget got a huge boost (of well over $1000! ohmy.gif) which really took the pressure off smile.gif
About to organise tax return and that will add a hefty sum to the savings so it's all coming along rather nicely smile.gif

Wow, so much has changed since my first post in this thread! I almost can't believe it's all happened so quickly - from saving toward a deposit earlier in the year, to selling our property and buying, now we're about to own a house!! biggrin.gif
What are you saving for? Our new house, and setting ourselves up as well as possible before settlement! smile.gif
How much do you need to save? At least $12K to pay off a loan before we settle, + as much as possible extra for a rainy day after we move (and for decorating!).
How long have you been saving? Properly, since January 2006.
How much have you saved? We spent our previous savings and unit sale proceeds on our deposit/stamp duty etc, so we've basically started again this month - $9350 so far. (Staying with the in-laws between settlements really helps!)
How much each week/month do you save? Approx. $6000/month, only until settlement though! laugh.gif
How much do you have left to save? Minimum $2650, + as much as possible.
Will you receive $ from any other source? Possibly tax refunds - will do our tax this weekend.
When do you need to achieve your savings target by? 26th October 2006 - settlement day! biggrin.gif
What do you need to keep you motivated? Daydreams about the new house, and looking at our budget to remind myself it will be comfortable enough despite being double or old mortgage! smile.gif
What is your target this week/month to help save? Continuing with our direct debit, but also transferring Jon's entire pay to savings each month (so that we're living on less than our new repayments to get used to it!).
Did you achieve last weeks/months target? Yes - selling our apartment really helped. wink.gif
What do you want as your reward this month? Nothing - 8 1/2 weeks until our reward!! biggrin.gif
Finally, post a picture or tell us something each week/month that helps motivate you and tell us why: IPB Image

Well its been over a month since my last instalment and i'm glad to say this is my last!!!

Our savings motivation has changed a bit since I joined this topic and we have (Thank you God) been given a great windfall of money to make our dreams come true.

Good Luck Girls for your savings!!

What's your username? Gwen

What are you saving for? House deposit when we return to Sydney in 2008

How much do you need to save? $70,000

How long have you been saving? Late Feb 2006

How much have you saved? $84,000

How much each week/month can you save? Nil

How much do you have left to save? Nil - we are in credit!! smile.gif

When do you need to achieve your savings target by? It was originally going to be Feb/March 2007, but someone must be looking over us and we can achieve our goal now. We probarly won't buy a house till early 2007 and pay it off while we are away in Singers.

What is your target this week/month to help save? Since we will probary need to deck out our new home, i'm going to TRY and stop clothes shopping.

Did you achieve last weeks/months target?
Didn't set any...

What do you want as your reward on the last day of this month?
No reward required!

Finally, post a picture or tell us something each week/month that helps motivate you and tell us why:

No piccie required - our savings regime is complete!! THANK GOD!!! I knew there was a reason why I was suffering homesickness.......it was so we could afford our dream home!

Congratulations Gwen smile.gif What a fantastic result!

Ok where D and I stand ATM...

We officially have enough $$$ for our trip, flights are paid, travel money ($2K) is in the bank ready to be spent and D just got his tax return and so is sending me the money for the insurance. Every spare dollar from here on is a bonus laugh.gif Aiming for more $$$ so we can stay in better places rather than grungy ones, and catch trains instead of buses wink.gif

New mini-target is a camera, the Canon EOS 350D with twin lens kit and spare battery thingo and extra memory card bizzos, value about $1600.

A very happy update from me biggrin.gif And yes I know this hasn't been updated every week!!

What's your username? Petersenbristow

What are you saving for? The wedding smile.gif

How much do you need to save? $6000

How long have you been saving? January 2006

How much have you saved? The Wedding is PAID biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Working towards a coupla grand for the honeymoon activities/cocktails/etc. But the actual honeymoon itself is PAID IN FULL TOO tongue.gif

How much each week/month can you save? I found a job and I'm happy atm, have been putting away about 500-550 a week for a few months smile.gif

How much do you have left to save? about 1700 for the honeymoon, but that is just fun money smile.gif

Will you receive $ from any other source? We got our tax refunds and our bond came back from the old house smile.gif Plus Nick should get a payout/holiday pay from work soon!

When do you need to achieve your savings target by? By October 8 and we're finally getting on track!

What do you need to keep you motivated? I managed to stay away from Ebay...mostly. To keep me motivated- the love and support of my lovely Nick and the vision in my head of our special day and ensuing honeymoon (no don't think dirty thoughts you floozies tongue.gif)

What is your target this week/month to help save? Get that money used to work on my car back into the wedding account asap (about 280 atm) and put away the rest of my pay up until the big day (at least an average of 500 a week)

Did you achieve last weeks/months target? YES!!! FINALLY!!

What do you want as your reward on the last day of this month? Have a fantabulous HENS/BUCKS night on the 30th and go MOB dress shopping with mum on Sunday.

Finally, post a picture or tell us something each week/month that helps motivate you and tell us why:
I'll say something. I was easily one of the most hopeless cases on here when I started (just look at my first post) and I got my @rse into gear! This is the first big thing I have ever saved for in my life and I am feeling pretty proud right now. If I can do it, don't stress, you'll be fine!
