OK I'm a week off my 1 month update mark but now is as good a time as any to submit my updated stats:

What's your username? LittleLeisa

What are you saving for? Apartment or semi-townhouse in Sydney

How much do you need to save? min 5% deposit on a $300K property ($15K)

How long have you been saving? January 2006

How much have you saved? $750 ($1250 by Wednesday)

How much each week/month can you save? $350 per week (combined with my husband)

How much do you have left to save? $13,750

Will you receive $ from any other source? Tax refunds & hopefully family will loan us maximum $7k which we will give back when we recieve the FHOG

When do you need to achieve your savings target by? We have moved our target date to the first week of November (2 wks after our first target).

What do you need to keep you motivated? This month I've found looking at real estate websites has helped keep me motivated. Doing a good job at staying away from the shops too! *pats self on back*

What is your target this week/month to help save? This month I am going to put the pressure on my husband to not forget to contribute weekly. He slipped behind so I'm going to send him a reminder email each payday tongue.gif

Did you achieve last weeks/months target? Yes! I set up all my cashflow accounts & have been having fun looking for creative ways to make-do with my leftover $ each week.

What do you want as your reward on the last day of this month? I haven't got this months reward (green havaianas) yet so I might put that $ together with this months reward and buy a couple of Billy Holiday albums on i-Tunes

Finally, post a picture or tell us something each week/month that helps motivate you and tell us why: This is exactly what we are looking to buy

PS: I've started up a new ticker too - to keep me motivated... it will be an ongoing reminder of my goal smile.gif

ohmy.gif Wow Leisa that place is just gorgeous! And love the new ticker smile.gif

My savings for the wedding have been put on hold til I get back from Singapore (going 3 weeks from today! Yay!) because all my savings are going towards that trip and not to the wedding, but I wanted to add that FMIL put $1000 unexpectedly on my dress, so that takes some stress off biggrin.gif

I just wanted to say that reading everyone's posts here makes me feel so much better about cutting back to save. We are the ONLY people in our circle of friends seriously saving for something and its easy to feel like a chump when you're scrounging for change to buy a coke (so as not to break that fifty) and everyone else is like "wooohooo"

*does impersonation of person waving around plastic with look of euphoria on face*

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

It's also comforting to see we're not the only ones trying to save a biiiig amount of money cool.gif

haha I should've called this the scroungers support thread, LOL - my MOH got engaged recently so her & her h2b are joining us bums on the scroungers bus too ... hehe

we almost got ourselves beaten up by old foggies at a pub for a meat raffle tray we won – WE DIDN’T GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT THOUGH – THE MEAT WAS OURS FAIR & SQUARE! Raaaaaaar!

hehe we’ll have to swap ideas on how to get by on the sly & still come out looking glam…

the other day JT was beside himself in fits of laughter when I tried to improvise a new outfit by wrapping the fabric belt from a top of mine, around my neck to make a scarf!

IT WAS STYLIN ALRIGHT? AT LEAST I DIDN’T BUY A WHOLE NEW OUTFIT! dry.gif sad.gif mad.gif cool.gif tongue.gif ohmy.gif unsure.gif wub.gif
