Ok... just wondering about this before I went to sleep last night. I want to engrave Fred's wedding ring.

My question is... when do I show him/when would he realise that the ring is engraved? I mean, I can't actually say before I put it on his finger, "Look... I've engraved it for you!"

So... I'm just wondering when will he realise that the ring has been engraved? After the ceremony??? Or do I show it to him a few days before the wedding???

We had our rings engraved, but we did it so that each did not know what the other was having engraved on our rings. Then after the ceremony etc (during the reception) we managed to find a moment that we could disappear and be alone and we each took off our rings to see what the other had engraved in our rings! Tim chose a phrase from our vows, and I chose an acronym, which I'd explained by placing a notice in the wedding section of that day's paper! I even have photos of me looking inside my ring to see what he had had engraved there...

I'd just show him after the ceremony, it'll be a nice surprise for him, though if he or his best man is handling the rings he'll probably notice beforehand. You could just mention it to him sometime beforehand, but not show him, that way there's still some aspect of a surprise.

I think I'd probably just tell him afterwards.

I'd show him before the day, just sit him aside and show him then.

We engraved ours, but we were both aware of it. I havent' taken my ring off not even once, so if it was supposed to be a surprise, i'd never see it! LOL

I had Daryl's ring engraved for him. I left a card for him at our house for him to open the night before the wedding, along with a little note telling him to have a good look at his ring. My brother (the BM) had been under instructions not to let Daryl see the ring, so when Daryl opened his card, my brother phoned me for permission before he would hand it over!

Hmmm I'd let him find it by himself....he might not notice for a bit but it will be a total suprise....but then again I'd probably get really excited and tell him to look! I'm sure he'll be delighted to see you've done it though....

Dave and I are getting the wedding date, and "Forever" with each other name on it. I'll have his name on mine and he'll have mine on his....can't wait to get them!!!

and I wouldn't say a word smile.gif... just wait for him to find it out himself heehee

or... if you want to be nice... after the ceremony or even when your alone after the reception... (or you could always do it when you do the other surprise... ask him for his ring ... and show him .. then do the other thing...)

LOL! I must be the odd one out! Eddie knew what the engraving on his ring was and saw the ring after it's been engraved. No waiting around for the day or anything. smile.gif He still likes it though.

I guess what also depnds on this situation is whether your supersticious or not. for example - I am a little supersticious and therefore would inform my husband to be before the wedding that I had engraved the ring and that he is to have a look before. As once the wedding ring is on - it is on for life. But there again you may not be supersticious and therefore, may show him after the wedding like Jo and Tim did - find a quite moment to yourselves. Either way is special if you can both make it special. Good Luck!

We agreed what we wanted in our rings beforehand and had them done shortly before the wedding together. I'd hate to think that something I chose Adam wouldn't have liked, or he would have preferred something else. After all, he has to wear it!

We simply had 'forever' put in ours.
My eternity ring we've decided on 'and ever'

We had exactly the same thing engraved on our rings.

DJ 23-11-2002 TL

"Come What May"

D's ring was big enough that it all fit around his ring, thankfully I have a split band (so it goes either side of my engagement ring), I had the initials & date on one and the "Come What May" on the other.

Well, I'm gonna engraved "Forever and beyond... 14-8-04".

He won't engrave on mine (can't) coz my band width is way too small to write anything on it wink.gif

And Possum.... you are very evil indeed!!!!! tongue.gif

I might show it to him after the Ceremony then.... thanks girls biggrin.gif

How wide is your band? Mine's only 2.5mm...

Andrew has a puzzle ring which has three thin bands entwined and the jeweller said he coiuld engrave that and I wouldn't put it much wider than Tia's. I'm wanting to do something similar for Andrew, just need to decide on what to have in it. Decisions, decisions!!!
