Does anyone else ever spend money on something and think straightaway 'why the crap did I buy that?' I just bought 3 books from Ama**n they are American cookbooks and with postage and the exchange rate over $100 came out of my Mastercard!! Argggghhh and I do it over and over again - we are saving for a house and going away at the end of the year but I always buy useless crap it's like a compulsion or an addiction or something!!! Can anyone else sympathise with me sad.gif

I'll sympathise with you on this one. I too buy things and later think "just wasted another $50 which we could be spending on our honeymoon". I can't seem to think before i buy, i just buy and feel bad about it later. I just can't seem to save, never have been able to.

Ahh yep! E-Bay does that to me all the time and especially when it comes to baby things - I just have to have it!

I only hope that I use/need all the stuff that I've bought, I'm sure it will be used eventually!

Funny though, I've bought a lot of stuff, but still find that I am needing more - I think that's my super-organised freak coming out. I have to have everything, it has to be the best and I have to have too much of it, for fear of running out.

Well at least they are cookbooks so maybe you will get some yummy meals/food out of it. That is never a waste.

YES, I do this all the time, and it's driving my poor husband crazy - not to mention it's SO bad for our bank balance! :cringe:

Its hard isn't it? But I think the trick is to put a certain amount of spending money aside for yourself every week, even if its a small amount, so you feeli like you can buy something for yourself without the guilt!
We all need to do a bit of shopping, saving is so boring!

I too find that if I have money in my purse it will get spent...so I tend not to carry cash with me. I find that going to the supermarket on payday is not always a good idea as I tend to spend more than I normally would buying the more expensive things and things that I don't necessarily eg a new body moisturiser despite still have three half used ones at home! Trying hard to break the habbit...

I'm a shocker with buying lunches, I'll try and be good and make a sandwich, and then around lunchtime I don't feel like it, so I go to the shops to buy something. I probably waste about $80 a fortnight just on that. And going out for dinner.....why do you need to do that 4 times a week??!!

Ever since I was a kid, money would 'burn a hole in my pocket!'

I used to do this all the time but I've gotten a lot better. I rarely impulse buy anything any more but having no money tends to do that for you!

I can absolutely sympathise - I do exactly that on that website myself tongue.gif smile.gif

Have you drawn up your budget? I find it helps me to consult it religiously so I remember what I can and can't spend (not that I ever really forget...but it makes a difference seeing it on paper) and what yuo're saving up for.

I do this too.. sometimes I think I just have an addiction to shopping..
If I have money or access to money Ive just got to spend it!!
I buy useless things.. and im constantly buying my lunch ... My most recent spending habit is baby magazines and pregnancy magazines.. helloooo im not even pregnant.. Im TTC ... I know i should wait till we are pregnant but I just cant help it!!

My husband laughs and says i have collected magazines for every occasion in my life! Yup Ive gone though the Wedding magazines.. onto home renovation magazines, gardening magazines,, kitchen and bathroom magazines and now its baby magazines!! ooopss!!! dry.gif

Maybe I should stop spending money on the magazines and actually put the money towards things like renos and the baby ....
