A friend who is a professional photographer took ours, and charged us $2500.

She was there all day, and we barely noticed her! Result - loads of wonderful shots that people have looked at and said - I had no idea that that photo was taken... that is great!!!

In the end, we got around 1500 photos, all digital - we have them all on CD.

We got approx 500 photos printed out with different development (BandW and reverse development).

We budgetted $3000 - $4000 for the photography and as we convinced our friend to return to Wedding photography for one day, got a bit of a deal!

We were very happy.

My SIL paid so much more than us (not sure exactly), and they are so disappointed with what they got - she was upset when she saw ours, as it is what she wanted!

Hi Girls,

I think that 6k is a huge amount of money to pay for a photographer. ohmy.gif

I managed to find one in Sydney that offers total coverage, up to 12 hours, and at about $1000. His photos are really good and he has won heaps of awards. I am happy with my choice and I have trust in his work! biggrin.gif

I am about to spend a few evenings next week meeting with different photographers to decide on a package. Most of the packages look to be about 3400 - 3800. I was hoping to pay around the 2500 because I also want a videographer.

You get what you pay for.... The old adage is definately true.

I'm paying about $3000 for a basic package (4 hours coverage, album, CD and prints of all the photos). I have worked with photographers in my career and they can be greedy but also really good photographers cost money, it's as simple as that. I made sure that my photographer was up to scratch in comparison to work I have done with photographers in the past and I'm happy to pay a bit extra. There is a huge difference between an average photographer and a great photographer and there are A LOT of average photographers out there.

My advice is that I would look around and talk to a few more photographers and get a feel for their work, make sure they can do (and show you they can do) what you want basically see what's out there. If in the end your heart is still with the first photographer see if you can make a deal with them. I managed to do that with my photographer, packages aren't always set in stone.

Remember you have to be happy with the end results and the photos are the one thing that are going to be left after all the food is eaten, the drink is drunk and the cake is eaten. But also remember to stick to your budget.

Good luck!

Hi there,

My fiance and i are paying $1250 for a 6 hour coverage that includes:

All photographs printed in 6"x4"(15x10cm)
8 copies of 8"X10"(16X20cm) enlargement of our choice.
Apresentation album (40 page album).
. A proofs album
One 12"x16"(30x40cm) enlargement
Up to 250 Photographs in total. Mixture of COLOUR and BLACK & WHITE Photographs.
. All negatives are ours included with the price.

I think we did pretty well but my advice to you is to look around. Ask lots of questions and if you like a photographer, then go for it. It is important to build rapport.

Good luck!

one of the 'best' photographer in Perth charges $10K straight up... just so you know... smile.gif

Maybe ring and ask whether there are any options in the package you were quoted are able to be removed so you can reduce the price.... OR, payment plans if you really want to use him...?
