South Molle Island - Whitsundays
Posted 29 September 2005 - 02:28 PM
Just wondering if anyone has been to South Molle Island in the Whitsundays? We are only looking at a short break away, maybe about 5 nights. And I was wondering if anyone has been? It looks nice on their website and in the brochures but I was after some real feedback or suggestions.

It isn't as upperclass as daydream as Lee Anne said but was definately better then Long Island (we did go to club croc though). Is is no where nears as expensive as some of the other island and is pretty good value as meals are included. Lots of people go there during the day to visit and it caters well for kiddies if I remember right (don;t have them do may be wong).
If you want to go and do stuff like dive etc they can organise tours

Hubby and I went to Long Island (Club Croc) for our honeymoon and LOVED it. We've decided we're going to go back for our 10 year anniversary. We went on a day tour to Hamilton Island and really didn't like it (it was so busy and touristy) we couldn't wait to get back to Long Island and just relax.
I have heard it's not as "upperclass" as some of the other islands, but I thought it was just gorgeous and there was always plenty to do. We could easily have spent another week there.
Not sure about South Molle we didn't get a chance to get there, but it really depends on what sort of honeymoon you're looking for. I loved being at one of the quieter islands.

We had our honeymoon up the Whitsundays and we loved it, we divided our time between Airlie Beach, South Molle and Hamilton Island.
We really enjoyed South Molle as at that time in the honeymoon we just wanted to relax. South Molle is one of the smaller resorts but still has most of the amenities of other islands. You have your water sports, gym, tennis court, pool and they also have a golf course. We also went on some nature walks.
Our room had been renovated and was very comfortable (we had a beach side unit). Another bonus was it is fully inclusive so all meals were included, we found the food to be good, had a good variety and was fresh.
My personal opinion is maybe 5 nights might be too much, why donít you divide your time between Islands (transport between islands is very easy). Spend 2 nights at South Molle and 2 nights elsewhere. Hamilton Island is where we spent the end of our honeymoon and I loved it, itís just like a little city. They had heaps of different accommodations types (we stayed in a self contained unit over looking the beach) and lots of different eating places (from bakery to steakhouse). They also had a lot of different activities, like pool side bingo, which I just missed out on

We spent another 8 nights at Airlie Beach afterwards too.
I don't think you'll be disappointed at any of the islands in the Whitsundays.

The island itself is lovely (as the Whitsunday islands are all gorgeous) with white sands and turquoise ocean, just the facilities weren't really that nice. It may have improved though since then.
