Hi Girls,

Just wondering if anyone has been to South Molle Island in the Whitsundays? We are only looking at a short break away, maybe about 5 nights. And I was wondering if anyone has been? It looks nice on their website and in the brochures but I was after some real feedback or suggestions.

I haven't been personally but a girl I work with has been to all the islands at the Whitsundays and this was her least favourite, she said she would never go back there.

Sorry hun, just being honest but I can't comment cos I haven't been!

Good luck deciding.

We went on or honey moon and loved it. We had a beachfront room with a spa which is probably why.

It isn't as upperclass as daydream as Lee Anne said but was definately better then Long Island (we did go to club croc though). Is is no where nears as expensive as some of the other island and is pretty good value as meals are included. Lots of people go there during the day to visit and it caters well for kiddies if I remember right (don;t have them do may be wong).

If you want to go and do stuff like dive etc they can organise tours
Is there any felicity in the world superior to this?

Hubby and I went to Long Island (Club Croc) for our honeymoon and LOVED it. We've decided we're going to go back for our 10 year anniversary. We went on a day tour to Hamilton Island and really didn't like it (it was so busy and touristy) we couldn't wait to get back to Long Island and just relax.

I have heard it's not as "upperclass" as some of the other islands, but I thought it was just gorgeous and there was always plenty to do. We could easily have spent another week there.

Not sure about South Molle we didn't get a chance to get there, but it really depends on what sort of honeymoon you're looking for. I loved being at one of the quieter islands.

Hi Jill

We had our honeymoon up the Whitsundays and we loved it, we divided our time between Airlie Beach, South Molle and Hamilton Island.

We really enjoyed South Molle as at that time in the honeymoon we just wanted to relax. South Molle is one of the smaller resorts but still has most of the amenities of other islands. You have your water sports, gym, tennis court, pool and they also have a golf course. We also went on some nature walks.

Our room had been renovated and was very comfortable (we had a beach side unit). Another bonus was it is fully inclusive so all meals were included, we found the food to be good, had a good variety and was fresh.

My personal opinion is maybe 5 nights might be too much, why donít you divide your time between Islands (transport between islands is very easy). Spend 2 nights at South Molle and 2 nights elsewhere. Hamilton Island is where we spent the end of our honeymoon and I loved it, itís just like a little city. They had heaps of different accommodations types (we stayed in a self contained unit over looking the beach) and lots of different eating places (from bakery to steakhouse). They also had a lot of different activities, like pool side bingo, which I just missed out on dry.gif

Good luck

I'm with Megan and Joey - we went to Long Island for 5 nights for part of our honeymoon and had a great time. We were so relaxed & having the meals included was a huge bonus. We were in a beachfront room.

We spent another 8 nights at Airlie Beach afterwards too.

I don't think you'll be disappointed at any of the islands in the Whitsundays.

Hi, we went to South Molle Island, like what someone else said, it isnt a 5 star resort. It is nice though. The food is ok - its buffet food and if they are busy then you wait a long time to get your food. It is family orientated and there are heaps of kids there (well when we went) so if your looking for something less family based then i wouldnt suggest it. Theres heaps you can do and its one of the mountainous islands in the whitsundays - we did plenty of walking up the mountains. The staff were friendly too.

hope this helps too

Hi Jill, did you decide if you were going to do South Molle Island as a honeymoon destination. If so let me know how it goes? We're thinking about there as well. Their honeymoon package sounds lovely......Sunset cruise, private dinner for two on secluded jetty... Sounds blissful!!! We're not into 5 star places, just too snobby, some thing more down to earth suits us better. I went there a few years ago and had a great time, and I've heard that the resort has been done up since then so even better!!! Let me know how you go.

I haven't been there for a couple of years so it may have improved but I found South Molle to be pretty downmarket and a bit scuzzy really. The facilities kind of reminded me of a country RSL or Leagues club and everything was in dire need of renovation.

The island itself is lovely (as the Whitsunday islands are all gorgeous) with white sands and turquoise ocean, just the facilities weren't really that nice. It may have improved though since then.
