I had my hair and makeup trial on the weekend.

I was really looking forward to it and had my mum and head bridesmaid with me for support and to give me honest opinions on how I looked.

My appointment was for 3.00pm.

When we got there she had a customer, so we had to wait, then she had 2 more customers throughout the afternoon while we were there who were getting foils, cuts and blow drys. So i had to wait with my hair partly started while she did everyone else in between me and kept apologising.

Then the makeup lady arrived at 4pm and started on my makeup. I didn't have a pic to show her of what i wanted so I told her what i wanted. She did practically the opposite. I have fair skin and light brown/honey blonde hair and I don't really wear foundation usually a tinted moisturiser, mascara and blush. The foundation she used was way to pale for my complexion so i looked dead and i looked like I had no eyes, plus she had done the eyeshadow like something out of a KISS video clip, it kinda of wrapped around from my eye lids to the side of my face and was sooooo dark i was embarrassed when I looked at myself in the mirror, i didnt know what to say.

I asked if she could try the eyes again in a different way, and she did, and it was only slightly better the second time. By this time it was about 6.00 and I had my hair done but it wasnt anything like the pic I had bought to show the hairdresser and i asked if maybe we could try it again, to which she replied it would be another charge on top of what i was already paying ($55 for makeup $55 for hair and $55 to try the hairstyle again!!!).

So she did it again and it was better but it wasnt my dream hair.

I paid and left at 8pm......

I dont know what to do, should I try again with the same people or try someone completely different?

I dont have too much time left, and Im dissappointed and worried....

(sorry, i just realised how long this is....)

She hasn't really inspired any confidence in you has she? And to want to charge you extra when she's not doing a job that is flattering for you is just so rude. Was it $55 for each person to trial or $55 for the three of you? If it was per person then that is a hell of alot of money to pay for a trial.

I've tried three makeup artists and I'm finally happy with the third, I've tried two hair stylists and I'm going with the second.

Just have a go with someone else because you may just connect with them before it's too late.

how disappointing!! I would suggest that you at least try somebody different, this lady seems disorganised and un-interested in you! not exactly the kind of person you want to be working on making you look beautiful!! im only paying $50 for my hair and $50 for my makeup, if u are in syd pm me and i will give u details smile.gif

chin up im sure it will all work out!

Amber where are you? I might be able to suggest someone

If youre not comfortable with them and/or their methods and the final result, definately look for someone else.. you want someone who you are totally confident you can rely on to do a good job and how you want it

I know it's extra money to pay to have another trial with someone different, but in this case, I'd definitely think it's worth the money to get someone who'll listen to you and do what you want.

How dissapointing for you. Are you able to get any recommendations from anyone near to where you are?

I understand that sometimes hair styles are hard to achieve with different types of hair but your hairdresser should have been able to advise you on this. As for doing other peoples hair when she should have been focussing on you is pretty rude.

Your make up artist also doesn't sound she listened to your needs at all.

If they fluffed it for your trial how is it going to be on your wedding day????
Best to try out someone else, even though it will cost you money.

My hair trial was $50 and turned out how I wanted it and my makeup trial was free as I purchased a lipstick from them. She listened to what I normally wore and that I wanted a fairly natural look. The only thing I had to change from the trial was to use a bit of powder because of shine.

Good luck in your hunt

I would definitely try someone else. Maybe call some Sydney-based mobiel artist (there are lots listed in i-do's directory) and see if any will travel for you?

Good luck hon smile.gif

I would try some-one else - you don't need to be worrying if the hair and make-up lady will do a good job on your day in the lead up to your wedding.

I have to say that i think you should try someone else - it doesn't sound as though they were very commited to you as a client....doing you in between other people...I know hairdresser do it all the time (double book themselves) but not when they are doing a wedding trial..PLEASE!! -

Also it doesn't sound as though either of them really listened to what you eanted - and you don't sound too confident in what they did.....you don't need that stress on your big day!!

I can't help you with someone else - I am Victoria but i say search out another salon or look at getting someone to come to you!!

her own appearance is truly horrible so I guess its so surprise she butchered both of us

im livid at this lady forwant of a better word as she scrubbed dermabrasion crystals on my skin witthoug my consent and i have very sensitive skin!!! its red an irritated now - I could kill her!!!

You should probably be let it known to this woman that she's a butcher, maybe she'll learn something.

Thank goodness you found this out Amber, definitely look for someone else now, this woman is totally unprofessional.

Deffinately try somewhere else. I would have no faith in either of those women if that were me....And I would be far too nervous on the day hoping that it's going to turn out. You need to be happy and feel confident with these people...ditch them and try again with some one else.

Also may I suggest that you tell your new hair stylist and make-up artist that you have already had a disaster trial and that you are now searching again. They may try a little harder for your business because they know you have been disappointed previously.
