I've been wondering about using silk flowers for the wedding, as we'd love to do them ourselves but I don't like the idea of running to the markets in the morning! I'd also like tulips - in February, in Sydney. rolleyes.gif

I know some people here have found some great places online for them, but I've been searching for ages and can either find really tacky arrangements or places in the US that won't ship here...

If anyone has any websites they found useful, would you mind PMing the address to me please?

Thanks very much! biggrin.gif

Can you PM me those sites too??? (pretty please with sugar on top)

I'm doing all our flowers too, and I'm a bit scared about getting stuff from the flower markets (probably going to rose nursery for the roses... well der!) specially as we'll be pressed for time, and I worry that they would all droop.

we may mix fresh roses and other silk flowers

thanks in advance

Hi, can you please PM the addresses to me as well? I received one from someone here not long ago, but I'm sure there are more.

Hows everything going Amy? Did you find the flowers you're looking for?

Hi Natasha, I'll pm you the address - as it turned out, everyone recommended the same place! They must be good!

After a bit of digging, I've found that the recommended site does do tulips, just not in their standard bouquets. I've requested a quote to have one custom made, so we'll see what they can do.

I still think there must be more sites out there - maybe this one is just the best! If anyone knows any other sites, I'm still looking around so would appreciate any addresses!

My custom made quote was $190, but it didn't mention the corsages and button holes I had asked for. and didn't include reception decorations either.

I found a local place that sells silk and dried flowers at wholesale prices. I worked out I should be able to do all the flowers... Bridal bouguet, MoH bouquet, flowers girl posy, 6x button holes, 2x corsages and table decorations for less than $100! and I can do it all exactly how I want. I did invest $20 in a flower arranging book, so that will help too.

Have a look in the yellow pages under artificial flowers or wholesale flowers (or something similar)

Yeah, I found that everyone is recommending the same place to me also.
Wow, less than $100 for all that? Interesting. I might have to let my fingers do the walking!

The other drawback of silk flowers as opposed to fresh, is that you will never have as much variety, but some places can do silk flowers to perfectly match your theme!

Do a google search for silk flowers (australian sites only), and there's a site that come up right at the top, some guy's name, but I can't remember

What colour tulips are you going for Amy? Have you asked them for a quote yet?

I'm after white tulips - but in summer, in Sydney, silk seems the only way to get them!

LF quoted me $297 for the bridal bouquet of tulips with a "collar" of gardenias - apparently it'd be cheaper without the gardenias. I have no idea whether that's reasonable, but adding $77 each for 4 bridesmaids' bouquets + corsages etc...

I'd really like to do them myself though so I might keep looking to buy them by the stem as Alex suggested.

Were you happy with your quote Natasha?
