holy jeezus - i just booked it - $300.

i wonder if there's a cancellation fee... i'll talk to my gp about whether that sounds right.. or whether i can go somewhere else privately that doesn't cost me an arm. i don't think it was that much the last time - definately wasn't over $200

i need to recover from that .....

OMG! Are they doing anything else other than the standard NT scan?? That is a lot! So far you win with the most expensive NT scan ohmy.gif ! Mine was quoted at $135, or $80 for lower income (neither price has a rebate unless the scan was considered medically necessary). $300 sounds too much to me!

I don't understand why there is no rebate? I've had at least some rebate on all my scans. Maybe my doctor has put down something special on my referral

I'd still be going to Medicare to see if you get anything back just to be sure.

Tracey - that is extortionate!

Really Raelene? Maybe I should try that. You'd think you would get some sort of rebate on it. I've lost my darned receipt now!

My 18 week one is bulk billed, just had to pay for my 12 week one.

If I could my receipts I'd tell you exactly what I got back but I've not been that organised this time (normally they all go into our tax file)

Oh wait - up pops the Medicare docket thingy! Charged $100 for NT and got $59.50 back. I've also found my tax spreadsheet from 06/07 and got $59.50 back on NT then too. 20 week scan was $180 with rebate of $85. Normally the rebates go up in November I think it is so it may be more now

And going back even further... I had a dating scan with G and got a rebate on that too but I think that would have been marked as a viability scan due to previous loss. Charge was $114 with $51 rebate in Jan 07

Mine was totally free, my GP just wrote the magic words "please bulk bill" on my referral. We aren't health care card holders or anything, maybe because it was an AC pregnancy?

I paid $200 for my NT Scan and got $95.45 back from Medicare. I have been told the 18 week scan will cost $190.

Vicki, ring your US place and ask for a copy of the receipt. No reason they shouldn't be able to supply it

My next scan is now going to be free. Yay for midwife having access to public health system and that hospital being my back up plan

Yep, I just paid $300 for my recent NT scan and my next scan will cost $285!

I guess if you go to a Private clinic they can charge what they like. Are you going to SUFW?
