We are getting married on Tuesday 13th April.
We chose this day because it falls in the school holidays and having two brothers as teachers (one in victoria and the other in nsw) this is the only week of holidays that they can come and bring their kids without having to take them out of school. Also, my parents were married on a Tuesday and my Grandparents on the 13th.

Just wondering if anyone else has not chosen a Saturday to get married on? (Not that there's anything wrong with having it on a Saturday!)

I got married on a Friday Katie, we only had a six month engagement so a lot of places were booked by the time we were looking. Only 2 or 3 guests couldn't make it, we gave plenty of notice and it was the week of Easter long weekend so people had the long weekend and then had Friday off for our wedding, made for a really short work week!

Nat,
Thats cool to hear. Also cool to hear it was around easter too! We aren't having a huge, huge wedding (we have 70 on the list) and we are pretty sure that most people will be able to be there. Being on a weekday we have told most people who would normally be working to have a sickie that day (and maybe the next!). It will be a good day for us no matter who is able to come.

We're getting married on a Sunday morning. I wanted to be different so we planned a morning ceremony and a brunch reception but this is now a lunch reception.
I love the way you chose your date - how very sweet!

We got married on a Friday! We initially wanted to get married on a Saturday, but found it was so much more expensive, so we moved it to a Friday. We have our guests months notice, so for those who wanted to come, they would have enough time to make arrangements, put in for annual leave etc.

I had a friend who was married on a Tuesday - picked it because her and her now hubby liked the date! They had a morning ceremony to which their non-overseas guests took the morning off work, went back to work afterwards and then met up again for the reception (dinner). I wasn't at the wedding because I was in a diff state but mum said it worked well.

I love that idea - you would have time alone with your hubby (and/or nearest and dearest) between the ceremony and the reception, much better than all the usual running around for photos, etc.

We are having the Saturday wedding thing. But not because it is a Satuday, it just happened that the 8th of October 2005 is a saturday. (for those who don't know Chad proposed on 8 oct 2003) we wanted 2005 so our son would be old enough to be involved, but still young enough not to have to take time off school (he will be going into grade 1 in 2006), and also my family still young enough to look after him for one week, then Chad's mum is having long service leave for the following week.

So didn't matter if 8 october 2005 was on a mon, tue, wed ... just want that day.
Sorry for any typos, I have a dislocated shoulder nerve.

Mick and I choose to go with a traditional Saturday wedding (8th Oct 2005) because we wanted to make a whole weekend of our wedding rather then just a few hours, so on the Friday we'll have a rehersal dinner, Saturday will be the wedding and Sunday Mick's mum will throw us a brunch before we head of on our honeymoon on the Monday. Which gives us more time to spend with our guests and because it's a long weekend any interstate guests have extra travelling time so they're not rushed.
Married 8th October 2005! I will love you today, tomorow, always!

Rhys and I picked a Sunday - (21st November 2004). Mainly because we looked at a calendar and I simply asked Rhys to pick a number that was close to the date that we met (December 29th - but this was too clsoe to Christmas - NYE - etc..). I am however having two weddings an Indian wedding and Western Wedding. The indian wedding is three days long - so really my wedding starts on the 19th of November and finishes with a traditional wedding on the Sunday!

Yes.... *points to her wedding date* wink.gif It was fun being close to Christmas though.

How cool, 2 big weddings! You'll have lots of fun.

We were on a Sunday. Originally we chose that because it wouldn't be as expensive as a Saturday wedding, and we thought we were being smart, because our date was on a long weekend. Turns out that many service providers tread Sundays of long weekends like Saturdays, price-wise - so our cost-cutting measure backfired on us!

It was also a bonus choosing a long weekend, because inter-state travellers had a bit more time to get themselves organized.

We were married on Estaer Monday last year as it was the 45th Wedding anniversay of Paul's parents and it was the Chruch that my parents were married in. We combined traditions of both families
