Sabah is faaabulous - much better than Bali. Admittedly I was there a few years ago now, but it wasn't as trashy or touristy as Bali, and absolutely beautiful.

The orang-utan sanctuary is amazing; but make sure you go to the pearl markets. They're cheap and you can buy some beautiful things, especially if you love pearls!

QUOTE
have been getting a bit worried as some family friends said that Sabah was not that nice and was dirty! (this was after we had already booked!)

It's Asia <shrug>, heck, even Paris is filthy apparently!
One thing you learn when you leave Australia is that our country is spotless compared to many many others smile.gif

I dont mean to scare you and I could be totally wrong, but wasn't there a warning out saying that westerners were targeted to be kidnapped in Saba?

We went to sandakan in April this year only for 3 days but it was absolutley fantastic. There was 4 people at our hotel, which caters for 60!! I had the pool all to myself, luxury. The beach was lovely, and so nice to enjoy when we were the only people taking a sunset stroll along it!!
On one day we visited the Organutan Sant. and it was completely out of this world, we have the best photos. We had a tour guide who picked us up from the hotel, just me, H2B, the diver and the tour guide. We saw a python, 11 orgautans and a tiger leech.
We have the most fantastic memories from our short stay there.

I highly recommend it, can't praise it enough!

Happy Honeymoon planning!
