To echo the views of pretty much everyone else, go to the Dept. Fair Trading. Also, write him a letter saying that the original time frame was acceptable however 3 months (plus the rest) is not acceptable and (bluff him) tell him that you have been to see a solicitor about your rights, and that you are legally allowed to obtain the negatives from him if your photographs are not received within the following 2 weeks. I used to be a legal secretary so I do know the bluffing is perfectly legal.
Also make a point of saying you dont care if he has to work 24 hours a day to get your photographs printed, you want them done in the next 2 weeks, no exceptions.

I know that i, personally, would be shattered if my photographer failed to hand over our photographs for our wedding. You only get married once, and to not have any of the professional photographs that you paid for in good faith is just awful..

I hope i havent made you cry more sad.gif

Aww, I'm getting angry for you just reading your posts ... you poor thing sad.gif
One peice of advice ... don't do anything until AFTER you get the photos. Don't let him hear that you've put in a complaint about him, you don't want him doing anything to the photos. Wait till you get the photos back, then spread the word around about how much of an ASS he is biggrin.gif

Sharon, I also had an awful time with my photographer. Problems included rude in the day, short changing us on number of prints, trying to charge us for a roll of film 'allegedly' taken by a guest (even though he had invited himself to sit at the table with guests and then wandered off and left this camera on the table - hello!! paying you to do a job not mingle) and refusing to hand over our pictures until we paid for the film and developing of these pictures (there was more, but I won't bore you).

We went to Fair Trading; the problem there is the other party has to agree to attend arbitration. This guy was a fruitcake so we knew he wouldn’t go, so in the end we got our own lawyer to send him a letter and what do you know! We finally got our pics after forking out an extra $50 for some crappie reason he dreamt up, but at this point we were married in September got our pics around May – we didn’t have a video so I was beside myself. We had also tried talking nicely, and Anthony and his Dad paid him a visit at which point he got quite abusive and personally insulting to Anthony.

He wasn’t a member of any association and was referred by Anthony’s cousin who worked for a bridal magazine (she was no help and even took his side – nice huh!). He shortly afterwards disappeared off the face of the earth, so too bad if we wanted reprints.

My advice, try Fair Trading but you might, like us, want to get a legal document drafted up. We had the receipt which detailed what we had paid for (ie how may rolls film, what type who many prints etc) as long as your invoice details what you should have received I can’t see why it isn’t legally binding for him to produce your pictures.

Good luck! I know how incredibly upsetting this can be so I truly hope it gets resolved quickly.

We finally got them on Thursday!! The photos do look great, I'm really happy with the quality of the ones we have but........there are hardly any of MY family. There are heaps of Steve's family, but there are NO photos of my uncle and his wife, nor my auntie and her partner, nor of my brother and his wife. They were all sat at a 'family' table and my brother was the MC so how he couldn't know we wanted photos of them I don't know. Mum actually remembers him taking photos of my auntie so I don't know what's happend?????

He STILL hasn't returned my calls, after leaving a message with his answering service on Tuesday night saying "please return my call, I'm starting to get angry now..." I got a rude text message (2 pages long mind you) saying he was in Sydney was busy. HELLO....I'm a customer!!

This has just ruined our whole experience with him. He was fantastic leading up to and on the day of the wedding, I've been very patient as far as I'm concerned. The only time I got angry with him was when he stopped returning my calls (I mean what was I supposed to think!), if he had of returned even one of my calls before I got angry then I could have told him all I was after was the consignment number of the package so I could chase it up with Australia Post.

So, I'm not sure what to do now........I feel that he's sent me a pretty clear message about how important our business is to him. I just wish I didn't have to deal with him again, but we'll need to get reprints (the photos are all in a proof book).

How the bloody hell did he end up turning this around so that he's got the sh!ts with us!?!?!!?

Sorry to hear you've had such a hassle, but thankfully you have gotten your photos now!

Will you also be getting the negatives or must you go through him for reprints?

YAY I'm glad they arrived. I hope you're going to upload some for us all to see wink.gif

Not sure what to suggest about how to deal with him, seeing as you need to get reprints from him. Did you get the negatives as well? Perhaps once all the reprints are done then let the venue know of the bad service you received so they don't recommend him to others.

I wonder if an I-do posse going after him would work??? LOL!

I'm so glad you got your photos in the end Shaz, I'm sorry it was such a hassle!

Re reprints - I would wonder whether, as he has broken his contract with you, you still have to abide by it in terms of going to him for reprints?? I might be totally wrong, and you don't want to mess with copyright law, but if you can find a way out of going back to him and giving him more money, do!
