Hi, I am trying to plan my Sydney wedding from NY and need some advice about photograpers. I have no idea what they charge, what an album means, and whether they make the prints for you or not. Can someone please advise me of a good, reliable, somewhat artsy photographer that is not too expensive? I got a quote from one place that said they would send 2 photographers (one shooting color, the other B&W) starting from $2900!

Please help!

Let us know where in Sydney you are having your wedding and how long you want the photographer for and we'll see if we can help you.

PM or email me with the details if you want.

I'm really happy with ours so far, in terms of price, service and their portfolio, but we've not had our wedding yet so I can't give a 100% recommendation.

We're getting all the negatives, every shot as a 5x7 prints & all shots on cd, 2 weeks after the wedding (only a viewing album as we wanted to make our own). Depending on which package we end up choosing, it'll either be $1050 for 6 hours and 288 photos or $1350 for 8 hours and 360 photos.

Most Sydney photography packages seem to include their time, film, colour & b&w prints (size varies), negatives (some have a wait of up to a year), some include a photo album in which they arrange your photos for you, some include images on cd.

The one we chose were actually the cheapest we saw, but we chose them because they were local to us (northern beaches), absolutely lovely people and we loved the look of their work (this was the most important factor to us, that we could have both candid and posed shots at our discretion).

They were also very upfront about what was included, while I found some others very vague - "oh, we include "unlimited" photos" - refusing to give even rough numbers etc. It's hard to compare like with like, but I carefully compared who gave you what for what price, then looked at style too.

I collected a whole range of quotes, varying from this one to one that started at $2750. If you like, I can email you the little Excel spreadsheet I compiled our quotes in - you might get different quotes too, but it might at least give you an idea of the range and save some long distance phone calls!
