ohmy.gif Man i keep reading your flower budget should be 5-10% of the total wedding costs!!! There is no way we are doing that!

We are having bridesmaids boquets, brides bouqets and button holes and thats it! I havent even thought about the centrepieces... i doubt it will be flowers...to exp!

What is your flower budget?
What exactly are you getting (number bouqets etc!)

Ok-I TOTALLY blew the budget on this!!! I don't regret it though...

I spent $1800 blink.gif eeekkkk...

That was for my bouquet, one BM bouquet, 4 corsages (spelling?) 6 buttonholes, centerpieces (yes I went overboard!) lilly on the back of each chair (inside & outside), two standing candelabras with flowers-side of bridal table, candelabra hire...gold fish with bowls etc..

I wanted the room to look 'WOW' elegant and since we didn't have that many guests I thought it was OK-I don't regret it...and our florist came highly recommended tongue.gif The room looked like this Reception room Looks a bit cluttered in the picture...

You can opt for more 'greenery' or choose something more simple, and add more candles...I just wanted it this way tongue.gif There are so many inexpensive creative options to go for!!

My budget is $600.00, I only need:

My flowers
4 x Bridesmaids flowers
7 Buttonholes
2 Corsages
and about 4-5 boxes of rose petals.

Most of my quotes have been under or just over budget.

I'm discovering my budget of $200 is a little optimistic - but dammit, I am determined to stick to this!!!

I only need my bouquet and two for the BMs. I might even have wrist corages instead... dry.gif I'll let you know how I g!

My flowers came in at $550

1 x brides bouquet
3 x BM's bouquets
1 x Flower girl bouquet/posy
4 x button holes - for parents & step parents & MC
3 x corsages - for parents & step parents

The men in the bridal party didn't have button holes because of the style of suits. We didn't have to provide flowers for the ceremony as they were provided by the church and we didn't have flowers on the tables at the reception, instead we had candelabras with ivy twisted around them and long candles. If we had flowers for all of those things I would have well and truely blown the budget.

Hmmm well i got my quote yesterday, it ran it at $2038!!!!! OMG i know. But my mum and i are both fresh flower & garden freaks, so knew this part of the wedding would be expensive. Bride rose & berry boquet, 2 x BM rose & berry boquet , 6 x Buttonholes roses, 20 floral table centrepieces, 3 x bag corsage thingeys for mothers & nan, 2 big arrangements for entrance to our reception, all of these have roses and lillies and alot of greenery.

Anyways, apart from the initial shock of the cost, i absolutely love the flowers and am extremely lucky to be able to have just what ive always wanted!

3 BM
8 Button
4 Corsages

I spent $684
That is more expensive because all of the Flowers need to be wired and apparently that is quite difficult for what i want oops lol

Couldn't get into your album Linda? wink.gif

We are spending about $1500, thats for
15 corsages,
My bouquet,
4 BM bouquets,
2 Flowergirl pomanders
2 large floral displays for the entry
11 table centrepieces.

We have changed the centrepieces and the floral displays, so I think they will be a bit cheaper, maybe $1000 altogether. The woman who is doing it works from home, so I think we are getting alot for what we are paying.

But that said, I don't think you need to spend a huge amount. My friend did her own flowers, she bought lots of Lisianthus in the colours she like and just tied them into bouquets, the guys didn't have buttonholes. She bought vases from Ikea for $7.95 each (10) filled them with cheap stones and the lisianthus sat inside, it was really effective. She also made runners and placed ikea tealights on the tables. All up I think it would have been about $250 worth of flowers.

I set a budget of 1500 but am getting everything I want for under 1300 including my bouquet (175 on it's own), 1xBM bouquet, 2 corsages, 12 buttonholes, 2 big floral arrangements for the church, cake flowers, big box of rose petals for throwing and decorating tables and 10 gorgeous centrepieces plus heaps of candles. I think this is a complete bargain.

This is the only expense that I totally underestimated in my initial budgeting! At first I thought $500 would cover it, but I was wrong!

So now I am hoping $800 will be enough. We aren't have big table centrepieces as we only have 6 long tables all up. Our bridal party is small (2 BM and 2 GM, no flower girls) and I don't want a massive bouquet. My H2B loves the big arrangements for the ceremony, but I am hoping we can downscale to 'medium' sized ones.

I am shopping around heaps and looking at local florists in the suburbs near my venues, which will hopefully save on courier costs.

Our quote came in at just over $850, but that's with no table arrangements (we're going with something else for that). The main expense was my bouquet - $480, because it's very long, needs approx 120 roses and is completely wired. The florist told me it would take about 6hrs to make it, so I figure it's not too bad when you break it down to an hourly rate.

take care,
Jo
