Hello everyone!
We're thinking of going to Fiji and would love to hear your recommendations and get an idea of cost for a week. Where are you staying or where did you stay and would you do it all again?! Thanks! smile.gif

Hi Cat,

We are going to Matamanoa Island Resort which is an island off the mainland. From the website and brochures it looks fantastic. It has also been recommended to us. We are paying around $5,000 for ten nights including flights and meals for both of us.

Can't wait!!

Thanks girls...I'm looking at the Matamanoa Island Resort as we speak ... yummy... might avoid a family-oriented place though, I live below a 2 year old's bedroom and I am having homicidal! thoughts laugh.gif

I've stayed at the Shangri-La which was nice, but you could get that anywhere. The other place we stayed was Beachcomber Island which is actually for backpackers and has a big dorm, but also has these great lodge rooms and bures. It is dirt cheap and all meals are thrown in and there's heaps to do. There were some honeymooners there, but it's more of a singles place. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that the island resorts if you can afford them seem to have lots more atmosphere. Great honeymoon idea!

We paid about $6000 for 9 days (including flights and all meals) and we went on a 4 day Blue Lagoon Cruise (couldn't recommend this more highly, it was heavenly) and then spent 5 days at Sonaisali. We chose it because it has heaps of activities and is near the mainland at Nadi. It was terrific.

We went to castaway Isl which is a real small island so you get that isl experience.

You can snorkell straight off the beach which is great.

we're planning to go to kulu bay resort which is on beqa island - looks really nice and isolated on their website and its a relatively new resort so they have this opening special deal which is USD2000 for 2 ppl including meals and activity for 7 nights!

We stayed on Treasure island a year or so ago for 9 nights... all up it cost around $5k including meals. Loved the islands - they are just so beautiful and the Fijian people are incredible ....

We have just come back from the Sonaisali, to be honest I would not recommend it. The location and resort are very nice, but for a honeymoon you should know that there is a kids club, so kids where running past our hut a fair bit. We both found that the service was far below adverge and while most activites where reasonably priced others very $$$$. And it was very noisey so durning the day naps just did not happen.

I have heard of far nicer places.

We were going to Sonaisali but now to Malolo island. It has 49 bures but still caters for families. I've heard good things so far.

We went to Matamona Island. Couldn't recommend it more highly!!

Staff were fantastic, food was unbelievable, the facilities were top notch and best of all no kids. Also cause there are only 33 rooms, everyone has their own space.

Those going to Matamona Island I am so envious, does anyone have spare room in their suitcase for me, I won't take up much room I promise!?!? wink.gif
