Hey girlies,

i'm hoping a few of you may be able to help me out. we've been getting quotes for invitations etc and I can't believe how much these places are charging.

for 150 invitations, envelopes, rsvp cards, 250 names cards, all printed, the cheapest quote we've gotten is $990, the most expensive is $3,000 (although these were for scrolls).

obvioulsy, we're now going to make them, i can't justify putting that money into paper, that basically people are really just going to throw away anyway. i'm hoping that a few of you will be able to please email your sources, so we can buy the cardboard etc to make them.

I'm in Sydney, however if there are any Melbourites out there, i've heard that there are some really cheap places down there to get these materials from.

thanks

Hi Janine

If you're in Sydney, check out Penfolds on Pitt St (the Hunter St end). They have all sorts of paper in there and specialise in invite paper and its not too expensive smile.gif You can also find tassels, ribbons, cutters etc etc etc

Hi Janine

I know that you said you are in Sydney, but there is this great place (just up the road from me) which does papers and everything else for invitations. They do have a website which you can order from all over australia. If you want to email me I can give you the website addy, and if you want I can go up there and try out the combinations you like (but there are soooo many more options in store, only about 30% on line). I have a dig camera so can email you the papers together and the prices. I can then go and pick them up and send them to you, or you can order off the website.

My email is BlueBirdy76@hotmail.com.
Up to you, we are going to use them for our papers, they are so cheap compared to other places I have looked at up here.
BTW I am in Brisbane.
Sorry for any typos, I have a dislocated shoulder nerve.

Could you please PM me the website as well, I'm in the throws of looking at paper suppliers at the moment. Not having much luck finding what I want and the DIY packages don't seem to work all that much cheaper when you eventually work it out the final cost.

Thanks

We paid about $200 for all our wedding paper and then printed it ourselves. We had 80 invties & OOS, place cards etc for 120 people.

There is a great shop in Melbourne called the Pap*r Place. They have a website (www.pap*rplace.com.au) and deliver all over Australia so it might be worth checking out.

We bought our invites from the Daisy line at Myer. We bought 2 packs which were about $50 ea and in each pack were 40 invites, 80 placecards, RSVP cards and stickers for the backs of the envelopes. We just had to print the inserts of the invites up on the home PC (however I didn't trust myself so I had a printing place do them). rolleyes.gif

We made our own invites and OOS booklets (around 100) and all up it cost us around $200 which was pretty good I thought.

We used DL silver metallic cards as the backing, a slightly smaller embossed ivory sheet on top, the same sized translucent heart embossed paper on top of that, and a clear thick plastic sheet with silver studs pinning the whole lot together.

Hello

From memory we paid about $300 for our 80 invitations. They were thre layers in a card format. The place I got them from is in Brisbane at Paddington and I am sure they do internet orders as well. Please PM me if you need the info.

I think the link is www.inv*tationhouse.com.au If that does not work just tell me. I am willing to go and play with papers and take dig pics for anyone, plus if delivery is to high and Aust post will do it cheaper I don't mind doing it for you. I will have to get a few ideas for one trip, otherwise they may think I am crazy. I will be going up there with Chad to get our papers in the begining of April, so if you email me your ideas I can do it. Just email me privately

We are lucky enough to have my sister making the invitations for us. Apart from being a nurse and mum she also does card making and is doing the invitations, menus and placecards for us as our wedding present (luckily we only need about 45 invitations for 70 people, most being couples).

I don't know too much about where she has got all the materials from (she lives on the central coast) but I know that she found the silver ribbion we want (in all different widths) in a cheap store, not a big chain one, but a little independant one, so its worth looking in those shops. They also give you a discount for buying the ribbon on the roll.

We are also having vellum paper (that plasticy sort of frosted paper stuff) in our invitations and you can only print on this using a laser printer (just incase you didn't know). We are using a friend's laser printer to print ours out.

Good Luck!

Katie. xxx.
