So does chlorine (swimming constantly for two days) affect the spray tan?

I had a spray tan done for my wedding. It was two days before and I had no trail as I had just landed in Aust.

It was wonderful. Made my eyes look bluer and my teeth look whiter! I was very very pleased with the result.

We went to the barrier reef the next day and the tan did fade slightly and had gone completely after about 10 days.

I would get a trail done to see how you look. I dont tan very well nautrally (Im either white or red!) so the spray on worked very well and was one of the best things I did.

hi there,
I had a spray tan "trial" and while it looked ok, it stunk and it went everywhere. I couldnt imagine letting it go all over my beautiful dress lol.
So I tanned the naughty way and went to the solarium...it was perfect.
But yes, it is dangerous but I thought it's for my wedding, and that doesnt happen every day!

I did things a little differently - being from the UK i am extremely fair and only have to glimpse the sun to turn bright pink/red biggrin.gif At home i did a trial and went for a St Tropez fake tan in a salon it was way too dark for me and it looked bizarre. It faded after a couple of days to a much better colour and didn't go patchy. Then i had another trial with a spray booth (it was Sun something the name of the tan) - this came out patchy, orange and then streaked when i got caught in rain. so it was back to the drawing board. I decided to be brave do it myself and bought a fake tan that you apply yourself (I bought in on the internet from a well known cosmetics company because it was cheaper there than in the shops and according to the info its used by a few celebs - PM me if you want the details). I applied it using a face sponge (as if you were applying make up) and it came out a really fantastic colour overnight, no streaks, no patches and the colour lasted about 4 days and it didn't smell bad. I was so pleased with it. The set comes complete with a scrub you use beforehand and a 'dry' oil to mantain it for longer afterwards - would definitely recommend it.

Its always best to do the whole trial thing and find something that suits you - St Tropez looks great on some people and not so on others (ie me !!). Good luck !

I had a spray tan test done just over a week ago and I got told by heaps of people that it looked really good and natural.

I think I will get one done 2 days before the wedding and I can even get it done a lighter shade than the trial I had and it should hopefully look really good.

i had mine done at Ell@ B@che 2 days before the wedding and it looked fantastic. The product that they used is green tone based so it blends with your natural skin colour. It was very dark at first, but they recommend you shower 8 hours after and after that (with a lot of it rinsing off!) it looked very natural. In fact, everyone thought I had just had a great tan, I had a lot of comments about how great my skin looked. Would highly recommend them! Oh and it didn't smell or rub off on my dress either, and it worn off after about a week.

This is the best pic I have here that would show it

I had a spray tan done when I was bridesmaid...

I had it done on the Thursday afternoon and went into work to do something on the Friday and everyone went OMG ohmy.gif because i'm naturally pale and freckled LOL It was wayyyyyyyy too dark but that was the lightest 'SunFX' one available... (and to think the lady tried to tell me to go with medium strength haha)

But by the Saturday morning, and a couple of showers it had paled down and looked awesome, I loved it and everyone commented on how healthy I looked.. someone else mentioned their eyes looked bluer and teeth whiter! I agree with it..

I can't wait to have another one cos it also just makes you feel awesome and can hide some of your cellulite if you are wearing a 'kini on your honeymoon (we swam the day after wedding at the married couples house!)

I didn't have a trial but I would recommend it ... a friend of mine had a similar kind of spray tan (unsure what brand) but she had a reaction to it and broke out in a rash sad.gif

Yes chlorine will remove your fake tan all at once.!!

Each to their own I guess.. I am a very pale girl and I hate being this white. Whenever I go out I always get a spray tan done but my lady does an awsome job and it looks like the colour it should, not orange peel.. For my wedding I just had it done three days before rather than the day before so it could fade naturally.. But the secret to a great fake tan is to have a body scrub before you do. It lasts so much longer and doesn't fade all blotchy..

And if you can see from my below photo's you cant even really tell I had the tan on but in my eyes it made me so much more confident on the day because that "shine" was off.!

ill be spray tanning probably 3 days before the wedding to ensure that all the excess washes off and it comes to a natural colour. I go to this one place in the gong and its the only place that i dont turn a strange colour. This one fades to a natural summer kissed tan!

Just wondered if you had considered using those moisturisers that build up to give a tan. J0hns0n & J0hns0n have one and so do D0ve. Just a thought. I havent tried them, but have heard good reports.
If you do end up going spray tan - definitely trial a couple of brands. I have a friend who got a cheaper one done and she couldn't lift her arms all day due to her underarms going a beautiful shade of bright yellow. Luckily, she is the type to laugh things like that off. And it was someone elses wedding not hers.

i'm not risking a fake tan or spray on tan, my skin is weird and i've had a few done before, some great, some not so great...I would be devestated if it turned out wrong ohmy.gif

I am going to the solarium twice a week, i tan really easily so it doesn't take much. Yep I know its bad for you but I'm qutting right after my wedding- I promise tongue.gif

...plus I don't smoke or do drugs so I figure this even things out a bit laugh.gif laugh.gif

i had a fake tan done for my 21st birthday and I have to say it looked great. Sure, at first the excess was coming off and it smelt a bit, but that was only the first day.

When i was able to have a shower (after 8 hours) the excess washed off and the smell was gone.

I think it is important to find somewhere that will do it properly and have many different shades. Many places will allow you tell them whether you want light or dark colour.

I had one recently with technotan and it was great, i loved it BUT i hated smelling lol
I too am as pale as you come so I went the lightest colour but it was a BIT difference but it look great and last about 2 weeks which is great for pale skin. I only hated it when it was starting to come off coz it was coming off in patches.

Chlorine shouldnt make one bit of difference. A girl I know gets spray tan all the time and she is swimming every day smile.gif

i can't stand sun fx (so sticky and orange IMO) i go for aviva or tanalicious

avoid techno tan like crazy, like i said im not a fan of sun fx, faken it is shocking..... this is just my opinion i have had a LOT of spray tans (dont now)

aviva is certainly the best- i warn you, you won't come out looking like a bronzed bunny but you can wear it straight out that night and i found it didn't turn my bed sheets orange???

we have it here in perth, i know aviva is stocked by uk, but they had trouble getting a distributor in australia, but she is based in perth, i have no clue if aviva is stocked in eastern states , but just thought id let you know my experience???

it's great diff girls have had good reactions with some products- i am just giving you my experiences as i spray tanned for about 3 yrs (till my partner and friends finally told me i looked shocking doing it HAHAHAHAHA!)

anyhoos.............

My BMs and I had fake tans done for my wedding - we used M@gic T@n which just darkens your skin tone by several shades, so its not a 'dark', 'medium' or 'light' - and they turned out awesome!!

We had them done on the Thursday night before the Saturday afternoon wedding, and while it does have a slight smell, when I showered the morning of the Wedding, I used a scented bath gel, and then moisurised with the same scent, and then had my matching perfume as well (so I was layered) and you couldn't smell anything but the scent that I wanted! My BMs did the same.

I had a strapless dress and the top of the bodice did have a little bit of colour from the tan, but that was it, and the dry cleaning took that out anyway, so you'd never know.

I just felt so good on the day, and the photos look awesome!! It really does set off the white dress, and my necklace looked stunning too!

But if you're thinking about it, defintely get a trial done - we did, and it helped us know which day was the best day to get done, and it gives you the confidence to know that it will be OK. Try one a few months before, so if it doesn't work out, you can still try a different type later and see which one works best.
