I've absolutely fallen in love with Marcus Bell's wedding photography. Has anyone had their photographs done by him or know of his price range? Thanks!!!

Its in the top price bracket for Brisbane photography. There are a couple in that range and then the next up is like Letchford and a few others. From what I remember he was a little more expensive than ours (Reyment Photographics) and we are paying almost 4K for a 20 side album, 1 enlargement, a disc with photos on it (not sure how many) and our coverage was only until 1 hour into the reception.

I'm extremely suspicious as to whether this will end up being worth it but we'll have to see in a month when the proofs are ready ph34r.gif

If I could have my time back I would have gone with one of the less established photographers who do the same soft, dreamy and photojournalistic styles. There are a couple out there with nice websites you can find thru the online yelllowpages. Unfortunately I found them too late and had already booked my photographer as soon as I got engaged!

Thank you, I was thinking he was going to be quite pricey. I'd love to hear from you when you get your proofs back from Reyment. I've read lots of excellent testimonials about his work. I picked up a brochure from his stand and QLD Brides expo and it said his all inclusive packages begin at $1995 so I'm thinking I'll give him a call. I think I'll take your suggestion and look through the online Yellow Pages. There's lots of photographer in there with websites. Thanks again!!!

I checked out Marcus Bell's studio late last year and looked through his folio. His work is the absolute best I've seen! Marcus himself was there and happily chatted with us. No hard sell at all, the man is soft spoken, friendly, simply lovely.

I'd advice not to go in there unless you're prepared to spend $3000+ though. Because you'll really agonize over whether or not to splurge! We decided to have our wedding in Melbourne in the end, so that settled the issue. (not that the photographer we found was cheaper... ouch!)

Good luck!

Thanks GoCat. I think it's best that I don't go or, as you said, I'll be agonising over whether to book him and for that amount of money........... I know there's a lot of other good photographers in Brisbane, it's just that his are so good!!!!

We checked out Marcus as well and while the photos were amazing I got the impression that you couldn't get an exact idea on how much everything would cost. They had the prices for taking the photos etc, but making the album could get really expensive if you wanted all the big fold out photos, and the metallic finish etc.

I also don't think you got a copy of every photo they took and copies for family and friends were expensive at around $50 (I think) for a 6 x 4.

But they were amazing...

Hi there

We've just put our deposit to book Marcus at our wedding (March next year). We have budgeted to spend a HUGE amount for photos (5k+) but couldn't help it as we both fell in love with his work when we visited the studio. He's also a really really nice man and someone I would enjoy spending my important day with.

I'm planning to save heaps on the rest of my wedding but we felt photos were a tangible keepsake of what will be a really important (and expensive) day.

Would be interested in hearing feedback from anyone who has already used him as their photographer!

I know what you mean - his work is just breathtaking wub.gif ..... I've been told that he is really lovely to work with too.
We have an appointment to meet him next Friday, but I AM concerned about the cost.

I Pm'd a girl on another website who used him (BTW her phtos were AMAZING!) just to get an idea of how much a package would REALLY cost and she said that she had committed to a 20page (40sides) album for $7,000, but after seeing the photos she fell in love with them all (as you do smile.gif ) and ended up spending over $14,000 all up for 90 sides!!!! Although that is expensive, I do have to say that her photos were just magical and her album would have been a work of art.

We also are seeing Sioban's photographer, who does a very similar photojournalistic style, but with (hopefully) a slighter lower price. As you can see on her posts, they were just fantastic - so right now I'm leaning towards him, but we'll see how I feel after meeting them both.

Hi ponine!

I have his prices here and a 20 page album shouldn't cost that much - probably more like between 3k and 6k (depends on hourly coverage, the longer he is around the more it costs).

Its the extras that add to the cost. Wow. Can't believe she spent 14k! The studio made the offer to have our photographs as the wedding registry. I thought this was a pretty good idea as it means the more ppl contribute the more extras you can get afterwards.

I would love to see this other girl's photos by Marcus. Are they on a website somewhere? Let me know how you go next week:p

Hmmmm- just thought I'd stick my head in to add some points laugh.gif

1. We had Diana on the day- this was very important to me as I didn't want a dude shooting me half nude (as I was when she got there)..but then again I am a total old woman tongue.gif

2. We went over our 20-side album and our 40 side album ended up costing around $7k BUT he threw in 3 beautiful blockmounted wall hangings because we paid cash.

3. We chose R*ymont Photogrpahics over Marcus Bell because we felt the style was a little less (don't shoot me) soppy/ fuzzy-lens romantic. R*ymont's signature photos are ones where everyone is laughing their heads off and that kind of sums us up as a couple laugh.gif

S.I and R.P are both great- with either I'm sure you'll end up with your dream wedding photos..just be prepared to spend the moolah blink.gif

biggrin.gif Thanks for the feedback Siobahn! I'm glad you mentioned that Diana was actually the one who took your photos......did you ask for her specifically when you turned up to the meeting for the first time?

Saffire - Just about to PM you with the link for that girl's photos......

Rowena - Thanks so much for the link!!!!

Wish I had this site before I had paid my deposit for photos!!! As were live in Melbourne and have planned to get married in Brisbane, we have to organise almost everything from here. I spent one weekend last month in Brisbane and raced around to view churches, reception venues and meet photographers. I would have loved to have all this wisdom before hand. As it stands, I'm glad we've committed the money to go with Marcus although I'm sure the others mentioned would have been at least as good (maybe cheaper!).... Unfortunately we didn't have time to go scouting around *sigh*.

I'm going to definitely pick everyone's brains on everything else Brisbane-wedding-related!!!
