Jalshion - did you end up printing it off and taking to your FC???

Would be curious to know how you went.... as someone who works for FC - sounds as if they were a bit strict!!!

How it should be:

* We prefer people to pay at the branch you took it out at because we are all separate (not franchises but businesses) - so another branch will not know what you are talking about if you randomly go in and start talking about someone's registry.

HOWEVER - your guests should be able to pay credit card over the phone/fax, deposit directly into the branches account, BPAY, send a cheque.
If your guest can not do one of those options - they should call your consultant and your consultant can make arrangements for them to go into another branch tp pay cash or eftpos.

* Credit card fees do apply for guests contributions - 2% for Visa/Mastercard, 3% for Amex/Diners.
This is so you get the FULL contribution onto your registry.
If a guest pays $100 by credit card - we lose $2 in merchant fees - effectively only giving you $98 on your file.
Whereas if we charge them $102 - minimal amount to the customer - you get the full $100 on your file.

I have never had a guest contributing to a registry complain about this.

* Guests are slack - they will contribute on the day of your wedding - there is no avoiding this.
Unfortunately there is also no avoiding having to pay at least one month prior to departure - otherwise you wouldn't get your documents in time, and the wholesaler also has the right to cancel the booking if it is not paid on time.

Anything contributed after you have paid your honeymoon off should be given back to you.

We have a registry with Fl@ght C@ntre too, and we have found it to be great - and have different conditions to the one mentioned above!

* people can keep adding to the registry after 1 month before the wedding, and they will give us a cheque for any monies left over

* guests can go to ANY flight centre and put money on your account. We have attached the business card of our consultant and if they have any problems they can ring her directly. We have interstate guest as well and they have just phoned her and paid at their branch of flight centre, or by credit card over the phone.

You might want to check with them Lisa, as we have not had any problems smile.gif

We did the same and it was fantastic!

The only 'problem' we found was having to have the trip paid one month before. Our guests could go to any branch as well however while at another branch the consultant had to ring our branch and advise them. Not a huge drama really.

Definitely worth doing.

The only thing from a guests perspective - my brother and SIL used a lot of their money to get tattoo's while on honeymoon and that really annoyed me! If I'm putting in for their holiday then I expect to pay for the holiday not things like tattoo's.

When we returned we actually typed a page all about our holiday so our guests knew where the cash went.

I have actually gone into my local FC since posting this thread and have also been told that guests could only pay at that branch and no where else, which I was a bit dissappointed about. We can't choose an alternative like one of those website places because most of our guests won't have access to the net, so we just kind of have to go with this FC.

FC do say that people can ring up and pay over the phone etc.. but some people aren't comfortable with doing things like that. I'm not too worried about paying everything and then getting the money later - so this isn't too much of an issue.

Although I am annoyed about guests not being able to pay at any FC, we will probably just end up going with them anyway and hope for the best! smile.gif

Jodi, speak with them again. I know they initially told us that guests had to go to the branch where you set it up however I pushed i a little bit (ie guests with no credit cards/cheque books) and they said they don't like doing it but will.

Sorry - just bringing this bit to your attention....

reason we prefer it to be at our branch is because our billing systems are not linked between stores - so another store literally has to send us the money via a bank transfer.

Also if the guest arrives at another store unannounced, the new store won't know anything about the registry and will have to call the other store to get the details.

So is obviously easier to keep it in the one store.

Well, I went into FC and brought up my concerns and still they wouldn't budge.

Anyhows, we paid off our honeymoon and the stupid thing was, if we had waited one more week, it would have been paid off for us.

We are now getting nearly $1000 back as people are still contributing. I haven't had any complaints with the guests as yet.

FC gave us the option of keeping our registry open until the day of the wedding, which we accepted. We will get the extra money into our account within 48 hours of the registry closing.

The only problem we have is that they have booked our accommodation as Mr Wiltshire and Miss Green not Mr and Mrs Wiltshire. . I am little peeved about that as it is our honeymoon and it will be the first chance I get to use my new name. It could also cause a problem at the accommodation as we have booked a disabled room and sometimes they come with single beds. I am taking my wedding certificate with me for that reason.

Thanks Jacinta, I think I will give them a little push!

Maybe I can arrange something for the handful of people who don't live in the area, like put a little note in there to contact my dad or something if they wanted to contribute to the honeymoon and he can liase with my FC branch... I am sure something can be worked out.

Thanks for all the info girls, it has been very helpful! smile.gif
