As one of my New Years resolutions was to frequent this forum more often rather than only once or twice a month, just seeing if anyone who's still around owns a Thermomix?

I FINALLY talked DH into letting me get one and I had my demo and ordered on New Years Day! Am trying to distract myself from my impatience of waiting for it and am obsessively reading all things TMX! Have 160 recipes pinned to my Pinterest and rising!!

I don't have one but I waiver between wanting one and thinking I don't need it. I actually went into a demo convinced I wanted one and then afterwards I wasn't sold lol. Then I see all these awesome Instagram posts and I want one again!

I do hope it gets used!!! I too see the awesome stuff everywhere and think ill use it heaps.

I think it helps that I have 3 close friends who have them. One says she needs to use hers more but she still loves it. One uses hers 3-4 times a day. The other one said hers gets used at least once per day and it's actually the husband who loves and uses it more than her! This family have a son with some food issues so for them it's been awesome to change his diet.

If I didn't know friends to give me their feedback I'd probably still be sitting on the fence.

We'll just see how it goes - DH will kill me if its not used a lot though laugh.gif

I have one and love it - just used it to whip up mango ice frappes for everyone, I cut the sugar down and up the fruit and the kids love them wink.gif

I used it pretty much every day and typically multiple times. My fave is whipping up a pasta sauce in it while I dash around feeding the animals on the farm after getting home from work - in 15 minutes I can have everyone fed AND a lovely fresh pasta sauce ready for dinner smile.gif

That sounds like I want - I started working at the beginning of December for the first time in 4.5 years and I'm struggling to get more organised. On the days when I finish at 5:45, by the time I get the boys from daycare and home, they're very tired and cranky and I like to be able to throw something quick and easy at them, get them into the bath and bed (or have something easy cooking whilst I bath them). Hoping TMX will help out a lot there!

I am so excited about it, I can't believe DH finally gave in and said I could get one!! Never thought I'd see the day laugh.gif

I am toying with the idea of doing a blog but not sure. Well, actually, I've already named my blog but we'll see if I ever actually do anything with it!

Work is great - can't believe how much I LOVE it there!! It's so nice to get some time away from the boys, adult conversation, and of course the paycheck (which was actually my final argument to DH - what did I go back to work for if not to buy things tongue.gif ) It definitely helps that all the other team members are so nice and friendly and so far we all get along really well!

So glad to hear that work is great!!

I'm intrigued by the thermo. I'd probably never get one as we don't really cook in. Way that would make a thermo worthwhile for us, and we have no bench space!

Let me know how you go with it xx

I'm a bit with Calzo, tossing back and forward. The 2k price tag has me gasping...we just don't have that kind of money floating around. I have a heap of friends with them, and honestly, can't really understand how so many people can afford them!

I do think I'd use it a lot though. I hate to cook, so when DH is away on deployment we exist on take-out, porridge, and easy pasta related dishes. I've seen it in action and because it's soo easy, I think I'd use it to make a lot more meals from scratch. As it is, I use my slow cooker weekly.

If only they had a boxing day sale on Thermomixes...

I have a Thermochef. $700 and aside from a couple of features that are different it does pretty much the same job.

Had it for two years and use it multiple times a day.

I think the problem is the girl who owned the thermomix thatI went to the demo for barely uses hers, and that's why she had another demo. She said maybe once a week she used it to make pizza dough. BUT she hates cooking anyway and her hubby does most of it.

I think I will end up with one, as I work long hours and I'd hope it would be easier.

I'm getting mine on 12 months interest free. They have a promotion going for that at the moment, finishing on 6 January.

It's about $40 per week to repay. Even though its interest free they do charge $4.95 per month admin fee but no penalties for early repayment so we're planning to pay extra per week plus if I get a bonus from work (I know we smashed all December's budgets so we'll be getting a bonus for last month) that'll go straight on it too and perhaps pay it off at tax time.

We don't have $2K sitting around doing nothing either. I did think about redrawing money from the mortgage account but prefer our money staying in that account reducing our interest there. We'd save more in the interest there than the $4.95 a month fee IYKWIM

I've got a cheaper version and for me, I'm glad I didn't shell out the 2k because we just don't use it that much for cooking.

I use it to blend up smoothies and puree veg etc for bolognaise sauces etc but I could have just got a blender for that!

I considered it but figured im more inclined to do alot of baking and didn't have faith that i could do bulk quantities so instead I went for the Kenwood Cooking Chef - it can do thermo cooking (similar specs of 3L capacity) but the baking side it can take 6Ls. Yes you do have attachments for blender and food processor that comes with it plus others you can buy rather than all in one but overall i think it better suits me.
