I have got to get a new doctor! I went back to get the referral for the obs now that I've chosen one, and she had the results of the blood tests from earlier in the week. She wasn't happy with pregnancy test results 'Oh, you're definitely pregnant, but they gave me the numbers instead of just 'positive' and they're a bit lower than I'd expect them to be' The upside to this is that she sent me for another blood test, and the numbers have quadrupled in 3 days, but she didn't need to stress me out!

Daybreak - sounds like you do need a new Doctor! I don't understand why they put unnecessary pressure on us.

With my first pregnancy, my GP didn't congratulate me just said, '1 in 2 people miscarry - I will see you at 8 weeks, if you're still pregnant then' mad.gif Way to make me feel positive about the pregnancy!

Up the duff - I find my clothes a little snug as well blink.gif making it quite difficult to hide from people at work!

That's horrible!
Same one on Monday gave me a long lecture about Downs Syndrome. But then, she talks too much in general. Yesterday, I heard all about her iphone! On the other hand, the other female doctor at the clinic has no bedside manner at all - she's very thorough, you just wouldn't want to ask a question!

ohmy.gif Wow! Way to be encouraging blink.gif

A few weeks ago I spoke to the midwife in my Obs office (over the phone) and she said the best date for my NT scan would be between 6-11 Feb. I called to book in my scan today at the ultrasound place at my hospital and the receptionist said the doctor there prefers the NT scans be done at 13 weeks which would be 14 Feb for me. I am very impatient and a little reluctant to wait so long (the sooner I can see my baby the better). When is everyone else getting their NT scans? Would I be better off getting it earlier or later?

Hi everyone, just in case you haven't spotted it, I've set up a 2014 Due Date list here http://community.i-d...howtopic=156007
Please pop in and add your date, even if your bub is already born.

Dandy Lion, I'm a bit confused about this too. The info from the obs looks like he'll refer me for it, but the GP has already given me a referral so I can have it done before I meet the obs. I'm tempted to just go ahead with it, but I don't know if I should.

When will you be meeting your Obs Daybreak? I am surprised that my first Obs appointment is at 10.5 weeks as usually it's earlier like around 9 weeks.

I get to see my baby again in under 36 hours wub.gif I hope all is going well in there I wish I could stop worrying!

How is everyone else going?

Hi everyone - so the babies have been kicking up a storm and I'm starting to have a bit of trouble sleeping. I am now able to feel them moving when I'm standing still and sitting down but not when I'm walking around. We have a MW appointment on Thursday and then our next scan and Obs appointment is next Friday. Babies are doing well. Left twin is catching up, though is still a little bit smaller.

Mum and sister were over from Melbourne and threw me a baby shower and here is the gorgeous cake that they organised.

Zina that is gorgeous. WOW.

Dandy Lion - I have previously only heard of seeing an obs after 12 weeks, but I had to see this one 'between 8 and 10 weeks' - I saw him at 9 weeks. I liked it as it meant I got to decide whether to stick with him.

My NT scan is at 12 weeks, but they did say to me that they prefer them to be at the 13 week side of things due to the significant difference in size between an 11 week and a 13 week baby. Mine is at 12 weeks as due to my cycle I'm actually already 12 weeks now (I'm not - the dating scan can't have been that far out!), so they're playing it safer.

Baby number 2 - have you seen anyone about your worries? Did you have similar worries last time, or is it just this time around?

Daybreak and baby number 2 - gosh, what thoughtful drs you have had :S.

Daybreak - maybe book your NT scan for after you have seen your obs. As I said, closer to 13 weeks is better, and some obs have preferences for specialty pregnancy scanning places rather than the standard x-ray places. You could always book with your GPs referral now, then cancel if your obs prefers you to go elsewhere?

AFM - nothing much to report. I have a belly - eek! It feels far too early for this. I've found my belly belt, which will give me a bit longer but we'll see how I go - it really feels like I'll end up huge early this time!

I am going ok - I have a weird feeling that something is wrong that I just can't shake.

I feel the same sad.gif I think because it all happened too easily and before I found out I was pregnant I was questioning whether three kids was for us. I feel like I've jinxed it all somehow. I can't wait until tomorrow and I hope everything is just fine and dandy.

Thank you! Wow 11.5 weeks for a first Obs appointment. I thought 10.5 weeks was late! I hope I like my Obs unsure.gif

That cake is so gorgeous! What an exciting time for you. I am glad your left twin is catching up with his brother. Oh and the reason you don't feel the babies move when you're walking around is because the movement lulls them to sleep. When you stop and sit or lay down they wake up again which is why movement often happens when you're trying to sleep! smile.gif

That's true there is quite a difference between 11 and 13 weeks. My dates show me as 10 weeks 4 days at the moment but the measurements of the baby averaged out to 10 weeks 6 days. I think I will book in for my NT scan at 13 weeks according to my measurements rather than my dates…that way it is two days earlier happy.gif

Previously I've been referred to a fancy place for my scans, a place that specialises in pregnancy ultrasound. This time around I've decided to just go to a place that isn't specialised as it's closer to home!

The referral she gave me is for a specialist place, but she says it's not too hard to get in, so I might call the obs office closer to the time and see what they say.

I hope I like mine too. I'm going on a recommendation from a friend who I can't even ask about it properly, because I can't tell her I'm pregnant! This keeping-it-secret thing is hard!
The other thing that's hard is not licking my hands when they're covered in cookie dough!

Daybreak I'm impressed you are able to even think about licking your fingers let along bake in the first trimester. DH did all the cooking for me. The kitchen was just the worst part of the house for me.

I'm a little tired today and babies have been kicking up a storm. I'm sitting here trying to get comfortable (feel over stretched today) and waiting for the washing to finish so I can get it hung up before Mum Skypes me.

Luckily, I'm not feeling sick at this stage, but Andrew's boss pays me to bake biscuits for him (he gets 3 a day, same as Andrew does!) so I'd kind of have to do it anyway.

Things must be getting squishy in there for your twins!

Daybreak keeping the secret is really tough because the first trimester just drags! How far along are you now?

I had my Obs appointment today and the baby is going great and my Obs is super nice! wub.gif I was stoked and so was DH. The baby is measuring ahead in dates again! My LMP was 15 November so my due date would be 22 August and after my 8 week scan the measurements changed my date to 20 August and now measurements today have changed it to 17 August! My dates say I'm 10 weeks 5 days but my measurements say 11 weeks 3 days. Going by this should I be booking my NT scan at 13 weeks by my dates or by measurements?

Zina it would be very squishy in there with two babies. I hope you can get some rest.
