Gee you guys must think I am crazy with some of the names I have come up with. If I was having a girl I wouldn't care what others think but I think with a boy you need to be a little more careful hense why I ask all the time. This is my LONG list of names. I love none more then other actually I don't love any they are all just alright. Tell me what you think of them(outa 10 maybe?)? Which fits best with my other kids names. Remember I would rather not be to popular and have a nn but I am trying to get over it hense why the names are left on my list)

- Alexei (Lex or Alex for nn)
- Xavian (Xav or Xavi as nn)
- Rhys (no nn mad.gif )
- Oleksei/ Olexei (Leks or Ollie for nn)
- Seth (no nn mad.gif )
- Emerson (girly mad.gif )
- Koen/ Koehn
- Knox
- Mathew (quite popular and 2 of my best friends are named this so don't think DH will go for it)
- Evander (Ev or Vander as nn)
- Quinten (Quinn as nn)
- Emanuel/ Immanuel (Manny as nn, maybe a bit to old sounding)
- Matthias/ Mattieu/ Mattathias (Love Matt as a nn but unsure)
- Atticus (Atti as nn)
- Lachlan (Lachy as nn but SOOOO popular has always been my fav name since before Zack)
- Riley (So popular)
- Luca (could you use Luey as nn instead of Luke??)
- Alexander (Many nn possiblities for this but very popular and starts with A)
- Finley (Finn as nn)
- Nathaniel-(Nate as nn)
- Sebastian (Bastian as nn I use to hate this name so don't know why I like it now but I do but prob not my fav)
- Mannox (Love Manny and Nox as nn just not sure only just added this)
- Zebadiah (Zeb as nn not sure on it and don't know if I want another Z name)
- Xanthus (girly sounding?)

LOL! I think it's completely natural to be engrossed in baby names - I found it amazing (& frustrating!) how you think you've found the one and then a few weeks later think it's absolutely revolting!

Out of the list you've provided I would say Nathaniel is probably my favourite!

My picks are

- Alexei (Lex or Alex for nn)
- Koen/ Koehn
- Knox
- Evander (Ev or Vander as nn)
- Matthias/ Mattieu/ Mattathias (Love Matt as a nn but unsure)
- Atticus (Atti as nn)
- Luca (could you use Luey as nn instead of Luke??)
- Finley (Finn as nn)
- Nathaniel-(Nate as nn)
- Sebastian (Bastian as nn I use to hate this name so don't know why I like it now but I do but prob not my fav)
- Mannox (Love Manny and Nox as nn just not sure only just added this)

There are other names I like but I cut out the super popular ones and also some that look a bit too traditional with your other names. I wouldn't be too worried about the nickname, those sorts of things often develop organically, you might plan on using one nickname and then end up with something else entirely! Then you have no control over any nn that develop at school anyway.

I'd go with Cohen instead of Kohen and Finlay instead of Finley too but that's just my preference.

LOL, totally agree with this too! DD1's name is Kaitlyn and neither of us are fussed on "Kate" as a nn.

He doesn't care. Plus he has very opinionated(for a nice way to put it SIL didn't name her son for a week and had many tears to my DH bc her mother didn't like her names William or Thomas) family so we don't discuss names until after I have had bub where I will give him my list and we decide from there so no one else influences our decidion. (or in Mahli's case I didn't give him any choice but I won't do that this time as there is none I love)

What happened to Lennox? I like it or Evander from your list. I do like Rhys, but don't know that it suits your other kids' names.

I don't think you're crazy either! If you recall, I was very panicky deciding on G's name - I'd be certifiable by number 4!

FWIW my picks would be:

- Alexei
- Rhys
- Seth
- Cohen (don't like the other spellings sorry)
- Matthias (really like this one)
- Luca
- Nathaniel
- Sebastian (I wasn't a fan either but DS has a Seb in his class and now I quite like it)

I think all of the above are unusual without being too out there. I wouldn't worry about nicknames because they can develop later on.

I don't think you're crazy but if it was me I think I would take a break from names for a while and then see if you're any closer to a decision in a couple of weeks.

These are the names I like from your list:

Alexei
Mattius
Luka (although I don't know why you'd want a nn from this name)
Finley
Alexander

Don't mind nathaniel.

I'd chose xavier over xavian.

From your list I really like the ones below. Luca, Finn and Nate were all on our list if this bub was a boy and I guess still could be if the scan is wrong! DH is a Mat so Matthias would be out for us but it's a really strong name I think and goes quite well with your other children's names. Just my opinion smile.gif

- Matthias
- Luca
- Alexander
- Finley (I like Finn as a name by itself better)
- Nathaniel (love Nate as a name wanted it if we had another boy)

From your list these are my thoughts on the ones I like
- Seth - I don't see it being a prob having no non. Both DH and I have 1 syllable names that our parents thought had no non but both of us have nn
- Mathew - like it
- Emanuel - I have ban uncle Manuel so have good connotations for Emanuel
- Atticus- I like it, reminds me of the book to kill a mocking bird
- Lachlan - like it
- Alexander - love it
- Nathaniel - love it

Sorry you are having so much trouble picking a name

You're not crazy at all! Names are hard! I am name obsessed and not even TTC so I think I'd be considered way more crazy tongue.gif

I've cut out the ones I don't like so much.

My favorites in order of preference:

Matthias - I think it sounds really nice with your other names, and bonus is it has a nn.
Finley - I love Finn as a nn. Goes well with your other names too.
Seth - Love.
Nathaniel - I really like this and think it goes nicely with your other names. Nate is a great nn too.
Koen/ Koehn - I like Cohen, I don't like either of the K spellings sorry.
Knox - I think this one is nice with your others too.
Lachlan - nice, and the nn is nice too.
Riley - Goes nicely with your other names and I don't think it's too popular.
Rhys - I like this one.

I agree with the others that have said you will prob think of nn for the shorter names, they just might not be related to their names, so don't discount them based on lack of obvious nn smile.gif

im completely different in name choices to you... so i might not be much help

- Alexei (Lex or Alex for nn) - ok 7/10
- Xavian (Xav or Xavi as nn) - dislike
- Rhys (no nn mad.gif ) - 7/10
- Oleksei/ Olexei (Leks or Ollie for nn) - dislike entirely
- Seth (no nn mad.gif ) - dislike
- Emerson (girly mad.gif ) - ok... but not a huge fan 3/10
- Koen/ Koehn - dislike
- Knox - dislike, seems kinda rough sounding name
- Mathew - ok 6/10
- Evander - 3/10
- Quinten (Quinn as nn) - 5/10
- Emanuel/ Immanuel - 7/10 (spell it wits an E)
- Matthias. - 4/10
- Atticus (Atti as nn) - 8/10
- Lachlan (Lachy as nn) - no a fan... too popular
- Riley (So popular) - again too popular
- Luca - i think you will get the nickname Luke no.matter what you do 6/10
- Alexander (Manyth A) - hate nickname, name in itself is ok 5/10
- Finley (Finn as nn) -7/10
- Nathaniel-(Nate as nn) - 7/10
- Sebastian (Bastian as nn) - i think he will get seb more as a nn... 4/10
- Mannox (Love Manny and Nox) - ok 4/10
- Z (accidents deleted name) - horrible sorry
- Xanthus (girly sounding?) - again not nice

you have some nice names in there... however i feel like with half of them the child will be forever correcting and spelling out their name to people. sometimes as much as you love a name, i don't think giving it to a child to correct for life is worth it.

goodluck!! ot great you are putting so much thought into you kids names - don't feel bad making threads alot, but also remember its you and your husband who are through only ones who have to love the name :-)

(posted on phone, sorry for grammar, spelling and autocorrect)

Out of your list, these are the ones I like in order of preference

- Seth
- Alexander (I much prefer this to Alexei. To me it almost sounds like a girls name because of Lexi being a girls name)
- Finlay
- Lachlan
- Luca
- Rhys
- Riley
- Nathaniel
- Sebastian
- Matthias

Honestly, I would stop worrying about the no nickname thing. I know that ideally you would like one, but if you're finding it too hard to find something then just scrap that criteria.

What do you think about Elijah with the nickname Eli ?
