I have a surprise 30th to go to in 3 weeks time and I desperately need wardrobe help! Thanks to a post-birth abdominal separation of over 5 cm I've been on an exercise embargo of nothing more than walking for 20mins until at least 6 weeks. No pushing the pram, lifting the car capsule, nothing.

So I've still got a pretty noticeable baby belly and don't fit into any of my clothes except my trackies.

I really want to wear a dress to the party, something that I can wear again as I need to start rehashing my wardrobe now I can try things on again! I have a couple of empire waisted things I'll try on tonight but they're both pretty old and I really think I want something new to boost my confidence a bit too.

So..., something 'smart casual', a dress, with sleeves preferably and just above knee length I'm thinking. Open to colour and prints, hopefully nothing that will date too much though. I had a look at Portmans the other day (which is usually my go to for a quick fashion fix) but I don't think their cuts/sizing are fitting my body very well atm...

Any suggestions?

I really like Leonard Edminston's range at Myer - Flattering, patterned dresses, usually a range of sleeved options and some around the $100 to $150 mark.

Alternatively, if you are comfortable shopping online, Ezibuy has a big range of styles across their different ranges, I'm sure you'd find something suitable. What about something like this http://www.ezibuy.co...dress-85534.htm or this http://www.ezibuy.co...dress-92678.htm

I'm not sure if its still in store or your style but I got this dress recently and it's super flattering. I have a belly and whilst its got no waistline, it falls beautifully.

Eta: just realised it's plus sizing so may not be appropriate.

I really like some of the Leona Edmiston stuff, this

Not really colours or a style I would normally go for but I think I want something a bit different.

Lots I like from Sportscraft too, this shirt dress might work, looks like it might drape over bits I want to hide?

Monica, I'll have a look at Basque too, I have a few of their pieces so I know its a label I like!

I think both of those are lovely but my fave would be the Leona with some bright, funky orange beads or large earrings.

SEA, so far 'Reader Lisa' has not bought a dress but does now have new shoes!

http://www.airflex.c...omen/blake.html

To be fair, they were half price and I've been after a pair of nude heels for a while to fulfil my ambition of looking like the Duchess of Cambridge. AND they'll go with whatever dress I find most likely smile.gif

I did have a quick look through DJs yesterday but didn't see anything to strike my fancy. With post-baby mat leave budget as well as belly I'll be putting off a dress purchase til next payday but will window shop and keep you informed.

I pretty much flat-out refuse to wear empire line dresses now that I'm not pregnant. They remind me too much of being pregnant, and besides, people then decide to harass me about having a third child.

I've been loving 'Forever New' for dresses lately. They aren't particulary cheap, but I find the colours flattering and the sizing okay.

They are CUTE shoes. I love them.
