I agree I think another A name would probably be best avoided although there are lots of great ones so it does make it hard. If you really have your heart set on something in the A's though then I wouldn't let this stop you. Otherwise from your list my non-A preferences are:

Girls: Layla, Leilani, Lillian, Sienna, Tamsin, Zoey. Could Alivia be Olivia to avoid the A thing? or does that make it too popular for you?

Boys: Emerson, Emmett, Presten, Seth.

Good luck with the decision smile.gif

Thanks girls I already don't like a few of the names.

Aliva- Feel stupid but never thought of Olivia (I have no idea why its so obvious). LOVE Olivia but is to popular which is probably why I liked the sound of it when I read it in the thread I was reading.

Talon- I think this has become the name I like bc there is no way I can use it if that makes sense. I remember saying names to my mum and she was talking to my nan, I said Talon and nan piped up with NO WAY thats rat poison. Without her saying that I would have never thought of it.

Emmett- Just looked and it wasn't even in the top 100 last year for NSW birth death and marriages which makes me like it even more. I thought it was becoming so popular.

I am loving my boys names more Emmett, Emerson, Rhys and Alexei are my favs. Wonder if that means I am having a girl? Seems like how it would go for me. Although I think I would like a another girl for Mahli.

Ok, just kept the ones I love. I'm not into anything too weird, different spellings or names that remind me of students I dislike!

Girls
Alexa
Amity
Amber
Arabella
Bronte
Laura
Layla
LIllian
Sienna
Tamsin (prefer TamsYn)
Zoey

Boys
Emerson
Euan (agree with EWan)
Lincoln
Presten (PrestOn maybe...)
Rhys
Seth

I've heard the name 'Fallon' before, as opposed to Talon. I've also taught two 'Talen''s now too if they might work?

My top pick out of your girls list is Laura. Others are ok but didn't jump out at me As for Lillian, if you're trying to avoid popular I'm not sure why you would choose this. Yes, the name Lillian may not be popular but it will more than likely be shortened to Lily, which is super popular. So to me, it kind of defeats the purpose. Not that I don't love the name Lily tongue.gif

My top pick out of your boys names would be Seth and then a close second is Emmett.

Me neither & popularity has never bothered me - as you will probably have guessed from my oh so original kids' names. Names are so personal so please treat this with a huge pinch of salt. Here's my two cents all the same:

Girls
Alexa - Like
Amity - Nope - reminds me of Amityville horror films.
Alivia - Nope - agree that it looks like a creative attempt at Olivia
Aliana - OK
Amber - Love
Arabella - Love
Ayla - OK
Aleah - Not so much - risks rhyming with Mahlia.
Aubrey - In my world this is a boys' name - prefer Audrey.
Bronte - Love
Courtney - OK
Elexa - Agree it looks like a creative attempt at Alexa
Laura - Nice but a lot plainer than your other choices
Layla/Leilah - I used to love this name but it's possibly a bit 80s.
Leilani - Not sure how you'd pronounce it.
LIllian - Not my taste (I had a mean Aunty Lillian)
Lilliana - Like
Livana - Not my taste - reminds me of a trashy vampire name.
Lyla - Love
Naura - Not my taste.
Peyton - Not my taste
Samara - Not my taste
Sienna - Like
Tamsin - Like
Xanthe - Liking and it's growing on me the more I say it.
Xyla - Nope - She'll be called Xylophone at school
Zoey - Not my taste

Boys
Alexei - I prefer Alexander as I immediately think of Alexei Sayle.
Emerson - Love - also love it for a girl.
Emmett - Like
Euan - Not my taste
Kallan - Like but prefer Caelen or Kaelen.
Lincoln ?? - Like
Presten - I'm from a town called Preston in the North of England. If you'd ever been there you wouldn't be considering this! biggrin.gif
Rhys - Love
Seth - Love
Talon - No - it's a bird's claw.
Riley (to pop?) - Love

These are my favourite picks off your list;

Girls

Amity
Bronte
Lyla
Peyton wub.gif (this is our top pick if we ever have another girl)

Boys

Emerson (I actually love this as a girls name too)
Emmett
Talon (This is what our DD would have been called if she was a boy. I love it but a friend has now named her son Talon so I wouldn't use it in the future)

Good Luck smile.gif

I think the best fit with your kids names are Samara/Peyton/Laura and Emerson/Emmett/Rhys. I think another A name would be too much.

Even though your kids names aren't top 50, they're still easily recognisable and definitely not uncommon. Names like Alexei and Xanthe wouldn't flow near as nicely as some of the other names on your list.
