I love Anna. Anne is okay, but I think it's better as a middle name.
Plenty of great suggestions for longer names already. I know (of) an Anastasia who goes by Annie (and this might be a nice choice for you) and an Anntoinette (with the double n unfortunately) who goes by Ann.
What about Susannah?

A former member in here named her daughter Annieliese. They call her Annie.

I really like Anna but it was vetoed in this house.

Well, DD's name is Ana. And my name is pronounced Anne (not spelt Anne though), and my aunties and uncles on my mum's side all call me Annie smile.gif

So obviously I like both names. Anna is a lovely name.

I do like the name Annika or Annalise.

I think calling an Anna Annie would be a little odd. I could see it being used as a nickname for Anne in the Australian tradition of lengthening short names though.

My friend who is a high powered corporate lawyer in a top tier firm is an Annie, her 'real' name is Anastasia.

... the only Anne I know IS an old lady with stubborn chin hair and bunions. She's lovely though!

I prefer Anna out of the two, Anne is much more of a middle name to me too.

Having given Leo a shorter name were you wanting to keep a girls name short too?

Anna was at the top of my girls' list so I'm definitely going for that one!

I hope you do try again for another baby, LJM. I think you make a great mumma. smile.gif

I vote Anna or Annabelle. We would love to use Annabelle for a first name for his baby but unfortunately DH's brother has a daughter Bella and so that rules out all names ending in bella or belle. Im going to use it for a middle name though.

I love both names! Probably Anne a bit over Anna if I had to choose.
A friend of mine has a daughter called Ainslie but she gets called Annie.

I prefer Anna. Annabelle is lovely too.

Anica/ka is also nice if you wanted to call her Annie.

I really like Anne ... but I do like "old fashioned" names.

I really like some of the longer names the other ladies have suggested with Annie as a nickname

I've always loved Anna. We went with Annabelle, but somehow the 'Anna' nn didn't stick. Belle did.
But, my sister has a friend Annabel and her nn has always been Annie.

I've always found Anne rather boring. But that might be because it's my middle name. It also seems it's the middle name of 50% of girls born around the same time as my. About 5 of my friends also share this name.

My sister had her little girl two years after we had Annabelle and named her Isabella. It has become a bit of a tongue twister. She's more often referred to as Issy, since we had already started calling Annabelle Bella.

Then dh's cousin actually named his dd Annabelle.

My favourites would be Anneliese, Annabelle or Annika. Not a fan of just Anne, but I do like Anna smile.gif

I much prefer Anna, and would go for something like Annaleise, so it could be shortened to Annie and Anna (my DD has an insane amount of nicknames from Isabella and answers to them all smile.gif)

I love Anna, it was on my shortlist of names for if we had a girl. So was Hannah and Savannah. I never used to like Anneliese but have heard of one know who's 3 and her nickname is Liecy which I really love!
