Congrats kita; she's beautiful - love the headband!

Funnily enough, the other Amaya I know is Amaya Mary too - I did a double take when I saw it. Gorgeous name!

Wow Gretch what are the odds of that! Looks like we're not the only ones with the same taste in names.

Photobucket wasn't cooperating yesterday. There are 2 other photos I tried to load. Might try and load them another time.

Just thought I'd bump and check in with how we all are going, the oldest babies must be heading to 6 months soon!

We've just started solids in the last week or two, Natalie is really keen on eating them and we started early cause the nurse said it may help with her reflux and I'd much rather be giving her food than thickener. When I had Cait it was 6mths to start and now it's 4-7mths. Cait had puree for about a week before I got sick of it and went with BLW whereas Natalie is so little we'll be doing purees for a while and I've already got a big freezer stash.

So far she's enjoyed baby porridge, carrot and sweet potato, sucking on a banana, broccoli and pear and tomorrow I'm stewing up some apples to puree and put with her porridge. Only one 'meal' per day but she polishes off whatever I give her and lunges forward in her high chair towards the spoon!

What is everyone else up to?

Hi
sorry I have been MIA. Life has been pretty full on. Not sure when I was last on too be honest. So quick run down. Flint is now 5 months old (4 corrected) and he came home at 9.5 weeks old. A bit over a month later we were in and out of hospital 3 times in 2 weeks. Total of 5 nights admitted. He ended up with bacterial overgrowth, common for short bowel people. And he lost 500g. We coped some flack in hospital from a moron dietician that had absolutely no clue about realistic expectations for him. Hes still 100% breastfed and doing absolutely amazing. Yes hes not on the charts but hes not a standard baby. Its funny though because of his history it seems everyone is hanging for him to fail and for us to stop breastfeeding but hes thriving and I feel as though i have to defend our right to breastfeed. We still live day to day life on tender hooks assessing everything. It is hard knowing at any point things can change quickly for him and always being on the look out so we can get early intervention.
im not keen on starting solids with him. Im really frightened to be honest. #1 was riddled with intolerances and Flint has a higher chance to be very intolerant because of everything hes been through. Windsor, he too has reflux and medicated with losec and infant gaviscon. I have thought I should try rice cereal instead on the gaviscon but im just so so scared. sad.gif I would like to wait till 6 months (preferably corrected) to start solids like I did with #2 and only do common "safe" foods, like we did with her because she didnt have any real intolerances except if she ate too much fruit (which wasnt actually much) she would get the runs. I have been told though next time Flints gains plateaus then we HAVE to start. Seriously hoping he keeps going great for as long as possible.
otherwise he is an absolutely delightful bubba. So happy and smiley and just devine. Everyone falls in love with him when they meet him and im absolutely smitten. I cant get over how amazing, strong and perfect he is. He was made perfect for this journey and his gorgeous personality has made it so much easier and enjoyable to travel it with him. Have I said im smitten. I really am. Im so proud to call him mine. I love to tell people all about how wonderful he is.

Jazy I'm glad to hear Flint is going well.

Windsor we have also started solids. Lily started at 5 months old. She seems hungry after breastfeeds so that's why I started. She loves it and has three "meals" a day now at 5 and a half months old. Her favourites are pumpkin, kumara, apple and banana. I mix in a bit of baby rice cereal to make sure she gets her iron.

Lily is doing really well, she's still fully breastfed and sleeps through the night. But she still hasn't fully rolled over yet. She just rolls from side to side. She's also still swaddled for all sleeps. I've tried to wean her off the swaddle but she doesn't sleep as well so I've gone back to it for now. Luckily its not as hot here in NZ so its ok.

I'm finding it so much easier this time around. I hope everyone else is ok too.

Jazy, I've been following along on your blog and on FB and its really good to see Flint doing so well now with such good gains. I can't imagine what it would be like to approach solids with his issues, esp with intolerances already in the family sad.gif I guess we're really lucky as Cait has had no problems with food and always been such a good eater. We had a pizza party for her birthday and I felt bad because there were kids who didn't even eat pizza, we had to make one toast cause he didn't want anything else we had!

Woodland, we're still in fleecy jumpsuits at night here too, it's chilly! I had to go out and buy more cause I didn't have enough for Canberra 'spring'! We were going great with just sleeping bags but a couple of weeks ago had to start wrapping again and sleep has been a bit better since. DH and I continue to have dummy wars, I think we should wean her off it and he likes to shove it in cause it's just easier. He's been away for a few nights and she's generally fine without it rolleyes.gif Does still like to come into our bed around 4am though but I like the cuddles wub.gif

Is anyone doing anything like a naming day or baptism? I feel so bad because it's just been put on the backburner with child #2. Her godfather (to be) is heading to England for about 12 months shortly and with moving and everything then Christmas we just won't have time to have a baptism before he goes in mid Dec. I feel terrible waiting til he and his wife get back and Nataile being 18mths old cause we had Caitlin done when she was 5mths but I really want her godparents to actually be there on the day...
