How did she go?

Yes, did it go okay? I hate 4 year needles. Sophie still goes on about it - like I'm the worst mum EVER!
(I told her in advance. I think it's best so next time they go to the doctors they can trust it's not shots because you would have told them - if that makes sense?)

TBH, there is usually more carry on with the year 6 girls who are getting their needles than with 3/4 yo. You wouldn't believe how much they can hype each other up!

Oh my lord, HPV vaccines in Yr 7 are like mass hysteria blink.gif

Cait had her Prevenar booster at 3 and I told her which worked out fine so will be doing the same again. She's a bit sick though and is actually looking forward to it I think. She comes to all my blood tests for TTC and is really into the process.

Hope she was brave for you!

Thanks guys smile.gif

She was AWESOME biggrin.gif I told her about two hours before we went, phrased like it was suggested here (as a 'pinch') and told her she could show Emmett how to be brave.

When we arrived there was a child screaming blue bloody murder sad.gif and we went into the room at the same time as another 4 yo girl and she screamed blue bloody murder as well. I freaked a bit thinking that Cate watching that performance would set her off but she was completely unphased blink.gif huh.gif She didn't even flinch as the needles went in and the second one she even watched going in quite happily...even I am not that nuts as to watch the needle going in!!

I was very proud of her wub.gif

When we came out into the waiting room, the little girl who had been in at the same time as us cracked it because Cate had been given a sticker and she hadn't...the little girl burst into fresh tears at this realisation...oh God, her poor mother laugh.gif !!

I am happy I told Cate beforehand so thanks for the advice smile.gif

Hope it went well.

I totally bribed Raya. She doesn't really ever make a fuss but I know some kids who had bad reactions to the 4 year needles so I told her she could go and choose a Barbie afterwards and she walked straight into the Drs room and asked him to hurry cause she was getting a Barbie lol

I'm glad she went well!

Love it Chelle!

H very proudly told the toy shop owner that he was getting his knight because he'd been so brave getting a needle.

So glad to hear it went well.

I struggled to hold onto Keira as she started kicking and screaming as the first needle was going in and the nurse ended up scratching her arm with the needle because I couldnt keep it still. Oh god only another 5 months till Liam will need his. Hopefully his reaction wont be so bad!!

Glad to hear it went well! I was interested, for future reference. L is obsessed with a book about Elmo going to the dr, and he gets a needle in it. still, I ask L what Elmo got at the dr, and he says "purple jellybean!"
Lucky we have 2 years to work on that.

development is a journey, not a race

Cuteness! Heaven help that nurse if she doesn't have purple jellybeans!

I'm glad to hear it all went well! At least I've got a few years to prepare for this. We had to get some blood tests done recently and they weren't so much fun - I think it'll be easier when he can understand what and why.

I think I was lucky because I never minded a bit of pain and wasn't particularly phased about scrapes and cuts and needles - I remember my 4-year-old ones, and wondering why all my classmates were making such a fuss ph34r.gif - we had them at school and remember all of us lining up at the hall with our parents in tow and lines of sobbing kiddies coming out.

The Rubella shots in Grade 6 were hilarious though - everyone would suddenly start feeling faint or feel like their arm was swelling up etc. biggrin.gif

By the time our 15-year-old shots came around we were all world-weary and over such histrionics wink.gif
